Big Bear Snow Pics

Went up to Big Bear again this weekend and did some trail runs.....was beautiful on Saturday and snowed like crazy on Sunday.....I saw a bunch of other FJ's up there and I know a couple of them are on this forum...lol

Then it really stared snowing on Sunday...

Then my buddy got stuck and I had to pull him out.....

Aftermath.....

Great pictures! We went to Lytle Creek and that's how the snow was there too.
I am impressed with how the FJ does in the snow.

I am more and more impressed every time I take it out......I haven't done any mods to my TRD and I had to pull out a Jeep Liberty and a Ford Ranger(both 4x4)....and I turned around in the same spot they both got stuck in and I was fine....lol

Yea we cruised right by some 4x4 rigs with 50" tires that were stuck. People just gave us the thumbs up and we kept on cruisin'.

The CHP must know about the FJC's abilities as well because I heard of some people getting turned around going down the mountain in 4x4's cause they didn't have chains as well....when i pulled up to the CHP guy he looked at my FJ and didn't even ask about 4x4 or chains just told me to drive safely...hahahahaha

Re: Big Bear Snow Pics

I might be heading up to Big Bear this weekend... can you suggest any trails for a good run for a stock 4x4?

First of all you need to but the "Big Bear Lake Back Country Trail Map" you can get it at 4wheel parts or you can also purchase it at the discovery center in Big Bear Lake....its $3.00...and it is ESSENTIAL!! or go online and its like $6.00 here....
San Gorgonio Wilderness Association Backcountry Store

What I would reccomend is if you are driving up the 18 turn off at Green Valley to your left(signs everywhere) and that will start you at the bottom of "3N16"....you can take that all the way up to "2N09" and that drops you right by the lake and discovery center. It will take 2-3 hours depending on stops and how many times you get distracted on other trails.

3N16 is like the main trail out there and we usually pretty much stick to that route and just take side trails to explore but always end up back on 3N16. DO NOT go on 3N10(John Bull Trail), it is a grade 5 trail and your stock FJ will not make it(mine didn't...lol)

The best thing about that trail map is it lists the difficulty of all the trails and also has little scenic spots listed. The route I gave you is good as well because there is a spot to air down off green valley and 2N09 turns into a paved road at the end and is a good spot to air back up.
