Thank you guys. We'll start by adopting a fairly low maintenance trail. It will be our first so I want to get a feel for it. We can always expand. Once we can better gauge participation and our ability, maybe we can adopt more trails or longer stretches. Kokopeli, CADavebert, and myself were at a meeting a week ago and it was very exciting. I see great things with our group.
Sounds like a good approach as it will let us get our feet wet in this type of activity. Also sounds like you guys are making good contacts with the SBNF rangers which will benefit all of us in the long run. If there is any legal work necessary, let me know...I might be able to do it as pro bono work if approved by my firm.

I've been in constant communication with San Bernardino National Forest with the Adopt A Trail (AAT) program. Kokopeli and CADavebert were very helpful in gathering info and participating in the SBNF meeting last month. SBNF was chosen because there's a lot of interesting trails and the forestry service is very helpful and organized in the AAT program. They made it an easy choice. As it turned out the point of contact and the big huncho over at SBNF is a person we've met before at Lytle Creek.
Here's a short of one of our email correspondences:

Hello Tony, please look at 3N59A. It has a multitude of issues. From illegal hill climbs up Luna Mountain to the illegal trails leading to Deep Creek. It has some rough sections and is located in a unique setting. Include the short routes of 3N97 and 3N98, and you have a logical adoption.
Frida, the day before the Trail Team event at Big Bear, CADavebert, GTKrockett, Luckystrike, and I went to the above trails to take a look. This is a beautiful area with a great campground. It's on the North-West corner of SBNF and can be easily accessed from the high desert. Here are some pics of our trip. CADavebert, GTKrockett, and Luckystrike, if you guys have more pics please post up.
I've inquired about more trails for consideration and am awaiting a response. Once I have more info, I'll share it and maybe plan another run for trail selection. Thank you all for volunteering!
