Keyesville Classic MTB Race 3/14-3/16

Hello!
I'm sure we've got some good mountain bikers in this FJ group!
I'm an avid MTB enthusiast. I just like to ride-I'm no pro, but I like to ride!
I also love to race (even if I usually get my arse handed to me by the really good guys) it's something fun, healthy and offers an excellent way to get away (with the family too), camp, enjoy some beautiful scenery and in this case, hang among fellow FJ owners/MTB riders! - SSFTA's Keyesville Classic!
That said, this is a race I do each year (ok, this would be my second year ) and I plan to make it this year as well. It's a blast and the racing is really fun. The camping is free of charge, and it's among some of the most beautiful scenery in CA. It's not far from LA or SB and it could be a great way to meet other fellow MTB/FJ people! It also supports local businesses and provides a great weekend for people who love to ride.
I will be going on Saturday morning and returning Sunday night.
If anyone would like to join me/meet up/camp in the same general vicinity, please let me know and I'll be glad to provide more info about the campground, location, racing, etc. I'll be driving my shinny new FJ.
While you don't need to be a pro rider, I would recommend that you are capable of doing 15-20 miles of medium-difficulty terrain on a mountain bike.
I'm currently training and hoping to better my last-place finish from last year I was last, but it wasn't THAT bad a finish...I'm #212 in the beginner Cross Country division on the 2007 race results !!!
Here are the sites you'll need to reference for more information.
Hope to see some of you there!
Post up if you're interested/want to know more!

Re: Keyesville Classic MTB Race 3/14-3/16

I raced there and sponsored the event many years ago. It is truly a great event and venue. The last time I was there a kid was killed in the down hill, at top rider for Marin. Can not remember his name for some reason.

I may try to get up there this year. I should be able to get back to training at the end of this week. Knee problems have kept me off the bike for about 6 weeks, but have a good base prior. Holidays packed on some pounds so we will see how it goes.

Good luck to you and have a great time. I will let you know if I can make it later down the road.

Yeah, I heard about the death. Rider named Jake Watson.
It's mentioned at the bottom of this article.

Post up if you make it-good luck with your knee, and good luck to anyone else who plans on going. It's really one of the best events out there.
I've got a lot of training to do, but I'm slowly working on it...
