Re: Feb 16, 08 - Trail run for Santiago Peak / Wildomar
Sorry guys for the multiple threads. I wanted to be good and put it in the trail run section, but, I suspect there are others like me that only troll through the SoCal section on a normal basis.
Also sorry for the late notice, and no posts last night. Went to see "There Will Be Blood". Good flick.
I'm not sure how long the run will last, just a few hours is suspect. According to Air2Air and other sources of info, the main divide area is open at least from the fire. Not sure if rain has caused issues in the last couple days. That'll be part of the exploration piece.
I'll post up more later this evening.
Thanks for all the interest so far. Should be a fun time.

I guess TIT said there are other places back there. I will still be there to ck it out.

Right as you turn onto Main Divide is a dirt road. Take that and it will be a fun curvy ride down hill to the bottom of the hill to an open dift field. It is a well maintained road with a few houses. About a .0005 on the hardness level. But otherwise fun. In also in for this run.

I don't know what direction you were planning, but the gate going up Silverado Canyon is closed also.
Headed from Ortega. Looks like we'll have some fun easy cruising.
I'm just excited that I'm actually going to be driving around up on that mountain that stares back at me everyday.
I've been to Santiago Peak once before, but walked up. That's right, from Holy Jim, all the f@#%$^@#ing way to the top. Took about 12 hours. Most painful hike of my life, due to the fact I had a slightly pulled groin, but didn't really know until I was already about 5 hours in.
