Re: WII'S get em while their in stock 4-2-08

Thug doesn't seem like the "mercenary" type to me. (he's trying to help, not earn more commission)

This is one explanation for the shortage

With a weak dollar, foreign companies that sell their goods in the U.S. for dollars and then convert those dollars to their native currencies get a smaller profit than if they sell their products in countries with strong currencies of their own (such as Europe with the euro). In other words, Nintendo makes a bigger profit on Wiis sold in Europe than on Wiis sold in the U.S.
So Pachter says that Nintendo is shipping their excess consoles to Europe, where the profit margin is larger. As horrifying as it sounds, the good news is that he says that everything is leveling out over there, and that there will be plenty of Wii by the end of the year.

CADavebert was just kidding plus Best Buy people don't earn commission on products, last I heard.

That shortage explanation depresses me.....traveling outside the U.S. sucks since our money ain't worth much at the moment

I am COMPLETELY just poking fun at Thug. He's a fair sized target. Not too many that are larger than I, and I just HOPE he doesn't decide to take it out on me.

Yeah, the whole dollar issue is interesting. There's a situation here where we are selling something at a HUGE profit, because of certain calculations based on the dollar, and other places where we are losing for the same reason. Crazy times.
