stock roof rack

Does anyone have any thoughts on a cargo basket that would fit into the front unused section of the stock roof rack?

Use the search function.
I know that some have used the Coleman from Costco but I also think that maybe Garvin offers one as well. I think there are a couple others that have been used also.

There's the Garvin "adventure rack", and I'm sure that if you're into fab'ing stuff, a properly sized basket could have mount tabs welded on to build one to fit. Being fab'ing inept, I have an "adventure rack"

The Coleman Safari Rack from Costco was the best deal in town but no longer available from the CostCo website.

WAAG has a full basket using the stock rack rails for under $700.

Re: stock roof rack

Look at the 4X4 Tech section and look at "Rack Input" For $480 you can't go wrong with the BajaRack. It will be available soon.

I found this one yesterday. It's a little bigger, but should fit in there.

So you think it will fit huh?

Dimensions: 44" long x 39" wide x 5" high

I don't remember the dimensions of the front space.

Re: stock roof rack

I was looking to fill a bit more than just the front. I'm pretty sure I'll need to take out the factory cross bars, and keep the basket near the rear section. I was looking for something that I can use for things like Mohave, Ouray, etc., where I need a place for 2-4 jugs of gas/water, and some room for luggage. I don't expect to keep this thing on ALL the time. My guess is that it's "cheap" in every way, shape, and form, and will start rusting.

Width wise, it should fit ( I measured yesterday). Length wise, it will fit as well, with the factory cross bars gone. Even with the extension, it MIGHT fit, but I didn't want to go that far forward.

I have the manik light bar, and I think I'll get the $50 THULE wind deflector put on there (similar setup to Mudloving's)
