I know santa annas are a normal part of the Southern California weather pattern, but they seem more intense this year. With nothing between us & the Cuyamacas (the 3 big mounts in the background), these winds get up a good head of steam by the time they hit us! No damage (yet) other than a loose gutter, but we lay there at night wondering if the roof is going to make it (and what the heck is that banging on the house...)! I hope they die down tomorrow, I was thinking of hitting Coyote Canyon. That beautiful thunderstorm is probably over Borrego. Speaking of Borrego, I went there a while back & ended up in Ocotillo Wells ORVA...do I need a flag to be in that area? How about the ridiculous "adventure pass" permit to allow me to be on my own land?

"Climate Change" is normal, natural, and inevitable. Regressing civilization back to the stone age will not alter it one iota.

We lost a mid-size branch off the tree in the front yard, but other than that we are OK. I wanted to get some work done on the FJ today, but between being sick as a dog and the 95 degree heat I figure it can wait.
Awesome picture!!

Santa Annas are notoriously regional & topographically dependent. The most consistently worst (grammar nazis beware!) areas seem to be Cajon pass and that whole funnel shaped region westward, and MY HOUSE! It seems nowhere else in San Diego County gets anywhere near the wind velocity I do. Usually the SD area is calm when OC is howling.

Hmmmmm. Maybe you should invest in some windmills.

Got to do some work in Ramona after the fires last year. I spoke to some of the firefighters at the Cal Fire Witch Creek Station. Those guys said the wind was blowing so hard it folded the mirrors against the doors when the truck pulled out of the station the night the Witch Fire started. California would be a great place to live except for the wildfires, earthquakes, mudslides.
Awesome picture of those clouds. Looks pretty menacing
