L.A Urban Offroading in Encino

There is a short but nice fireroad in Encino. It is usually for bikers and hikers but you can drive take you rig through it to enjoy the view of the San Fernando Valley. There is also an old Cold War Nike Missle Site up there.

From the 101 you go South on Havenhurst into the nice neighborhood and then make a right on Encino Hills Dr. Right before are on paved Mullholland, there is a turn off on the right for Dirt Mullholland. There are typically at least one car there already. The hours are from sunrise to sunset.

You'll be driving on broken pavement for a few hundred yards. You see a utility building on your left where many park their cars to start biking or hiking. Keep going and hope the ranger people unlocked the gate. Drive pass the gate and enjoy the drive and view. It's only 1 mile but worth it.

The Nike site has picnic tables and restrooms. It's place that leads to many hiking and bike routes. You can not park in the Nike Missle area but you may park at the mouth of the entrance. There are street signs so it's legit.

Start: Mulholland Dr @34.130655, -118.502014
End: Mulholland Dr @34.129040, -118.513530

Here are a few pics I've taken there. It's the first place I took my FJC for some dust.

Oh yeah, don't expect nods or waves when passing the hikers or bikers. They don't want you there.
