Now that I'm on a roll, I am feeling a little defensive because I've had some harassing PM's.

1. Rocky is NOT a wild animal. He was one of 4 cubs that were about to be euthanized by Fish and Game, under the law.
I love animals, and have great respect for those who train / work with wild animals, or any animals for that matter. My condolences go out to Randy Miller and everyone at Predators in Action.

So, my intent is not to start an argument here, but Rocky IS a wild animal that was raised in captivity. Grizzlies are NOT domesticated animals, and regardless of where Rocky was born or raised, it still has the DNA and instincts of a wild animal.

So, despite the best environment and training, wild animals sometimes act instinctually. I think Rocky's action was a pure accident, and really unrelated to my discussion here. But like the situation with Zigfreid and Roy's tiger, a trained wild animal is not the same as a domesticated animal, and regardless of their upbringing, wild animals sometime revert back to instinctual behavior without prior warning.

To anyone that sends a harassing message to A2A:

Hopefully you never get offered a chance at an amazing experience like this again. I guarantee the kitty trip isn't something that normal people get to experience EVER.

Rock on Todd.

Re: Rocky the Bear in the News

Todd, if someone sends a harassing PM or email to you from this site, report them to Dragon so their account can be deleted. I can't believe someone would be so short-sighted and closed minded to harass YOU of all people. Morons.

Todd, I understand that these animals, if not in captivity where they are now, would be dead. they would be of no value dead, much less of educational value as they are now. I thank Forever Wild, Randy, et al, for their commitment to these animals. My condolences and prayers go to the family and friends of the trainer that was accidentally killed.

If anyone has anything bad or harassing to say, please send your message to me. I dare ya.

Re: Rocky the Bear in the News

thats such a bummer. i have a lot of respect for all animals. i know they are powerful and i personally choose to keep some distance. that being said, i am thinking about making the long drive to the next kitty trip. i think they are beautiful and fascinating animals.

Re: Rocky the Bear in the News

Briman everybody would like to meet you. I've learned a lot from your posts and experience and I'm sure everybody else here has too. One catch is that we are slicing and dicing the groups so there are ony 20-ish at a time.

It's a good idea if you can do Fontana because then some wheeling or shooting can be put together like these guys are saying.

Hey thank you thug. That is a very nice comment. Exactly what I needed cuz I have been thru hell the last few days. People really like to kick you when you're down. Again thank you for that.
If that bear really wanted to hurt the trainer, the man's corpse would have been torn to pieces.

This is a horrific accident, not an attack.

The neck is the most vulnerable part of the human body. When someone is killed by a line-drive in baseball, it is because the neck (not the head) is struck by the ball.

A bear copmared with a man is like a man compared with a little child. An adult male has to be EXTREMELY careful not to injure the kid when handling it.

this statement almost 100% true but then there are a few exceptions to the rule
