Air2air has saved me the bother of copying my PMs.
I believe I went out of my way to be respectful of Air2air and of the situation. If I had it to do over, however, I would have allowed some time to pass.
But you see, I don't know who Randy is or what Air2air's connection is with Forever Wild. As far as I know, that has never been stated. If it was, I missed it.
As I attempted to make clear, I'm sure the people involved with Forever Wild are dedicated and loving people. But apparently there is or has been an association with others who use wild animals for entertainment.
I am in no way making an accusation of mistreatment...that is not the issue.
I appear to have offended Air2air and others. That has not been my intent.
I wish Forever Wild and it's animals well and hope that all of you have a meaningful visit to the facility.

Todd, if you have Road Runner cable (Time Warner) it looks like they used one of the pics from the kitty trip 1 for their pic of Rocky for the article. Whoever took that pic needs to get ahold of the AP and demand a royalty!

I'll try my best to help explane it, so Todd doesn't have to.
Todd is a board member / volunteer at Forever Wild which focuses on Large cat rescue. They take in "wild" cats that people have bought as a pet and then latter realize that it was a stupid idea to do such a thing. At this point there are only two options 1) kill the cat, 2) have a place like F.W. take that cat in. Zoo's will not take them since they are not pure bread and they can't be let back into the wild since they will not survive since most are de-clawed.
Randy is the owner of the other rescue that is the owner of Rocky the bear. His rescue is not related to Forever Wild but they are friends will one another and help each other out. Randy's animals are used in movies and TV all of the money that is made doing this goes to take care of the bears and other animals it is not to make Randy rich like Todd said he lives in a trailer and lives a humble life and is only trying to get the animals food so they can live. It isn't cheap to head these animals. I was lucky enough to see Randys demonstration at FW last time Todd did the kitty trip and Rocky was treated very well and looked to be enjoying him self while he played with Randy and the girl.
i hope you will still come out to the kitty trip and lend a helping hand to these animals.
Todd if I have any info wrong let me know and I will edit it.

I think there's some law (of course) that if a person gets pics on a public domain the media won't pay royalties.
Several years ago I was getting ready for work and listening to the radio. They were interviewing an Eagle Scout from Escondido who received one of their hero awards (I apologize for the incorrect reference) for saving the life of a man who nearly went over one of the falls in Yosemite.
The man was trying to get a better picture. He almost got his wish but not on film!
My older daughter's dad was out there also taking pictures when the man slipped. He ran to the trail and got the attention of the Eagle Scout who happened to be with a friend climbing that day. He had all the ropes and such and went to work plucking that man off the side of the granite face of the falls.
That act earned him the hero award and a front-page spread at home. The pic they used was my daughter's dad's! He got zip.

Your dad needs to call NBC and have them put him on the payroll as a freelance photographer!

There are a lot of variables here. Just because a photo is on the internet does NOT mean it is public domain. But a lot of the photo galleries sites have clauses in them that makes this real murky.
The photographer owns the copyright the instant the photo is taken. BUT, and this is a big but, the photo has to be register with the copyright office to even file a federal copyright suit. And if it was not registered before the infringement the photographer can not collect punitive damages. So that really lessons the value of the suit.
I could really go deep into this but I don't think I should hijack this thread.
My advice would be to contact the place using the photo and assert your copyright. You should at least get the standard pay and a credit line with copyright notice and then register it, for possible future uses.
