Re: Why I have been gone for a week

Hi, This is Danny's friend Bekka and I'm an EMT, so I understand the physiology behind a pneumothorax and everything like that. He had been having chest pain on his right side for quite a while, just on and off. But when he called me on Friday, he told me he had shortness of breath and a very extreme case of chest pain. When he told me that, I immediately told him that he needed to go to the ER because I knew something was seriously wrong. but anyway, he was sedated for the procedure of putting the chest tube in and he came back quite well. He's in pain right now and quite lethargic, but he's doing quite well in my opinion. He's a tall lanky male and he's 21 years old, 22 years next week. I know of the other two ways how one could get a pneumothorax, but honestly, I don't think anyone knows how a spontaneous one would really happen for someone that's tall and lanky. They say that smoking and drinking is a contributing factor and everything, but Danny doesn't do any of those two things. I talked to my mom about it last night and we both agreed that it might have been the drugs that Danny has been taking for his feet that he has to take care of every day. Poor guy has to be in pain and it's not fun to watch a friend suffer. But I'm totally here for him and I'm destined to save his life someday. lol.

But ya, as for his lung collapsing, the Xray looked really cool before he got the chest tube put in. His lung was about 50 percent collapsed and it was a good thing he went in when he did because otherwise he wouldnt be with us today. Anyway were going to the doctor now. OOOH! I can't wait to see what it looks like, coolbeans. Anyway, nice messaging you.

-Bekka
He's the perfect candidate for a spontaneous pneumothorax. The classic body type, hands down.

Good thing you were there Bekka!

Also, Tmaxx, you actually sound like a pretty smart guy. Lots of guys would just ignore it. I've seen it happen and a guy go down with a bilateral spontaneous pneumothorax. Like a fish out of water sucking for air. Fortunately, happened right in front of me at a military base beach. He lived, but wasn't a happy guy with the two tubes coming out of him.

Re: Why I have been gone for a week

Pic time LOL (och i laughed)

this is the "pain chart" (on bottom) the nurse ask are you in from pain 1-10? so My friends michelle drew the 4th guy from the right 1st... and after that they all got to do ther own drawling

1st one done by bekka, 2ed one by matt, 3rd one by sasha, 4th one michelle, 5th one dan (daddy) 6th one was bekka ....

the 6th one was a big joke... After they put me in revover the nurse said "how do you feel 1-10" i said "the last guy but with a gun to his head" so that was made for the extream pain LOL

This is me! how i looked about 5min after they worked on me LOL

and this is the tube, the same day they put it in :-D

Please be nice with the pic... I have no shame what happen to me... and I beg to not have the pic modified (to poke fun) or said bad on... we got other pic for that LOL

Re: Why I have been gone for a week

Yo man! I just caught this post now. I've had the pleasure of having 3 chest tubes (both lungs collapsed -trauma), being on a ventilator & neumonia all at the same time! They'll get ya all fixed up and inflated again!

Keep on doing those breathing treatments & breathing therapy and you will be good!

Leave dem nurses alone!
