Yo man! I just caught this post now. I've had the pleasure of having 3 chest tubes (both lungs collapsed -trauma), being on a ventilator & neumonia all at the same time! They'll get ya all fixed up and inflated again!

Keep on doing those breathing treatments & breathing therapy and you will be good!

Leave dem nurses alone!
OMG!!!!!! 3 tubes! I can barley stand this 1 tube! I respect you for dealing with that After the week it does get better.... it stuff hurts to laught tho and i ALWAYS laugh so it sucks.

And as for the nurses ... i was in hospital less then 2 whole days (that i was awake for) so no time do any real nurse hunting

I'm glad you're recovering tmaxx, and that sucks that you have to wait to get it out! This should be a lesson to all of us to not be too proud. I'm an EMT as well, and I've seen too many people call after it's "too late". Be thankful for every moment you get!

Re: Why I have been gone for a week

A Spontaneous pneumothorax is one painful SOB. Glad you're doing good. I deal with these at least a couple of times a year-not me personally but with my patients. Ambulation an incentive spirometry are gonna be your best friends-along with pain killers and stool softeners-avoid straining with BM's. I thought I might add one last bit of advice, just in case-I'm not saying you need this advice, I just like to cover all bases: Don't do any killer bongs of chronic for at least two months! But seriously, glad your doing OK and be aware that this can reoccur and get to the hosp ASAP-you now are fully aware of the S/S. If caught soon enough, a chest tube may possibly be avoided.

Re: Why I have been gone for a week

Final update... So i went in on the 12th and he removed the tube, it was not as bad as you may thing.. its a odd feeling. in the vid of it (friend took vid) i make a sound when they remove it.. ill just say i sounded like it felt relay good haha..

ALSO he did not sew it up! he puts a "plug" thing in it and then patches it up and says in 2 days remove it and put a band aid on it... so well see how that works out lol

O 1 last thing... I truly thought the tube was 2 maybe 3 inches in me... when he showed us my eyes poped out of my head when it was 6 inches!!! wowzer!

anyway thanks for the support guys... you guys rock!
