Your bumper must have movement for it to pop that piece out. Does the bumper have a gap for body movement?

Re: LAST MINUTE 8/1/08 miller Jeep Trail NIGHT run.

Dude last week the exact EXACT same thing happened to me in pismo after jumping off a dune. Exact same bulge and fender movement, I had to take off the fender trim and top engine bay trim to get to some of the bolts holding the fender and barely got it to move (the last bolt is behind the door and the door will probbaly need to be removed) but I got the fender out of the way of the door just barely, but thanks to that I have a bunch of scratches on my passenger door now. I have the exact same fender gap in the front as well, and was also wondering if dealer would cover it, we should start a new thread, maybe we can get more input.

The bumper didn't contact the fender at all, theres about a 3/4 inch space b/w the bumper and the fender. It might have been a tree that could have hit it as I have a pretty good mark there from a thick branch.

I'll prob try to move the fender back forward too. There seems to be a lot of threads on bulges already. Just not sure if our case is the same since we actually hit something to cause it... Can't believe a less then 2 mph bump could cause the fender to crumple... would have never happened in my old 62. possibly better crumple zones for passenger protection?

Blair Witch actions. Scary stuff to be wheeling at night. I'm glad you guys got out of it safely.

Re: LAST MINUTE 8/1/08 miller Jeep Trail NIGHT run.

sorry to hear about the bulge.Ya you are right it's not suppose to happend in the first place.Bad fender design by Toyota. It's a stress point in the car's body.Take it back to the dealer hopefully they could get you some new fenders.Glad you made it out of Miller in 1 piece.
