Re: Looking for a Map of Big Bear 3N16 Big Pine Trail

Hey Biff it's Brian

Pick up a copy of the San Bernardino National Forest Atlas at the Big Bear Discovery Center. I checked online but everybody is sold out. Worse case is 3N16 is a very popualr trail and the Discovery Center has free maps and self-guided auto tours that cover it. 3N16 is also listed in the AAA Explore series "San Bernardino Mountains Guide Map" as well as most of the offshoots like Jacoby Canyon 3N61 that we did. Another good source is "Guide to Southern California Back Roads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails"

Amazon.com: Guide to Southern California Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails: Charles A. Wells: Books

Hey Brian,

I remembered that book, was just about to buy it based on your recomendation. I remembered you mentioned the trail head is off of Green Valley Lake Rd. and if I follow the trail straight through it should drop me off near the 18 right?

Thanks the info. I really appreciate it.

I don't know where your coming from but the easiest way to get there from the north side of the lake is to take 2N09 (across from Serrano Campground) due north to the 3N16 and go West. When you hit the 3N14 you're there.

P.S. We were next door at the Big Pine Flat group camping site. The weather was great but the trails are really dusty. The camp host is a one man walking party machine, bring him a 12 pack of Keystone and maybe he'll go away.
