2wd fun.
Had to pick up my daughter yesterday from deaf camp in NW Wrightwood. So decided to make a day out of it. Exited Sierra rd. exit just before Glen Helen. Drove up thru lytle creek turning right on sheep creek rd. Merged left at the immediate y in the road and just followed the dirt road to backside of Wrightwood. Picked-up my daughter around 9:30 and headed towards Cleghorn. Took Cleghorn to Silverwood. Left 138 then right onto 173. turn right at the "dam day use area" and followed to the end. On the left you'll see the entrance to pilot rock trail or {2n33}. Signage may be small but is always there as to difficulty. Nice views of silverwood lake. From trail end, turned left on 173 about 2 miles turned off to the right at "jeep trail" or {3n34}.Took 3n34 around to back side of arrowhead 3:45pm. Ended the day with a swim at Lake Gregory swim area.
This is common knowledge stuff for most of y'all but just thought i'd share for the timid 2wd or for the first timers looking for the more leisurely route. All green circle {easiest routes} were taken. Nothing challenging. As i had my wife, toddlers and was solo out there. Adventure pass is needed only if you park and leave your vehicle to my understanding.
