Trans-America Trail

This weekend, some friends and I did the Arkansas stretch of the Trans-America Trail. It was mainly a motorcycle trip, but I went along as the recovery vehicle/photographer.

We went from one end of the state to the other with less than 10% of the roads being paved. As claimed, it was mostly dirt roads, gravel roads, jeep roads, forest roads and farm roads. The trees were all turning and made for some great scenery in the mountains.

The trail part was done in two long eight hour days. We didn't even stop for lunch. Trying to keep up with a bunch of bikes on those trails was a challange to say the least. I can fully attest that VSC and ABS work.

We plan on doing other states when we get a chance. I highly recommend this as a nice little adventure.

Here are some of the pictures from the trip.

I just found this trail on another forum. It seems pretty amazing. It gave me an idea...see the thread here:

Re: Trans-America Trail

The Arkansas stretch was a great way to see the back country, especially once you get into the mountains. I imagine it wouldn't hold a candle to the Colorado section though!

An organized trip sounds interesting. I just met a few members last weekend and it was pretty cool to put a face and personality to screen names.

Very cool! I'm heading down to Arkansas and was looking for some interesting places to ride when this came up in the search. Thanks!
