Re: Off roading around Austin?

Good luck, Texas has just about zero public off road areas. All the land is privately owned and leased out to megazillionares for hunting.

Haha.

at 360 and Bee caves, there is a big rocky hill that you can drive up, right on the side of the road... (if headed S on 360.. right before you can exit BC on your right.

Drive up the hill, veer to the right once you get to the top. Keep going until you crest the mound on the far end of the straightaway. You go down and then to the left near the bottom of the hill..

And once you do, there is an exorbitant amount of trails. Will have you entertained all day. Completely hidden, no No Trespassing signs.

PM me for more info. Used to do it all the time on the way home from Albertsons.

You can also drive up the edge of all the carved out cliffs between Bee Caves and the 360 Bridge. Those are just as fun because of the views. Thanks for making me miss it.

Thanks Hammer! I used to frequent many spots off 360 when I had my Trooper a decade ago. Now most of those trails are blocked with boulders and chain fences. I'll have to check out this BeeCaves spot soon.

Re: Off roading around Austin?

Contact the Lone Star Land Cruiser Austin chapter they will know where to go. There are supposed to be few private off road parks opening up in the Austin central texas area, kind of like Gray Rock here in Alabama.

Gilmer (BMRA) is fun, but is hot as heck and dusty in the summer.

Also try Katemcy Rocks over in Mason. I'd post the url, but the forum won't let me yet.

Re: Off roading around Austin?

Me and my FJ just arrived in Austin yesterday from Atlanta, GA. Im a beginner, but would love to tag along with people when they go, and try her out on some trails.

Re: Off roading around Austin?

I had no clue that there were trails back in there. It's funny to have driven by that 360 hill, see the trail by the road and wonder what was up there...

Nobody has heard about getting tickets or trespass issues?
