OK...Today as I am driving across the Causeway bridge, which I believe is the longest bridge in the world entirely over water, I saw a Voodoo Blue with no roof rack heading north. The guy was too busy talking on his cell to notice me waving at him. Not 5 minutes later I see a Sun Fusion with roof rack and black tire cover also heading north. I think he waved back but i'm not sure.
About 3 hours later, when I'm back on the Northshore, I spot another Voodoo Blue in front of me. This one had a roof rack and dash gague cluster. By the time I caught up to it at Lowe's, he/she was already in the store. Still had the temp tags on it (like me). 10 minutes later I spot another Sun Fusion with roof rack and gague cluster at Home Depot (can you tell it was honey-do list for the weekend?). I have seen this one before in the same place which leads me to believe that this person works at the orange box. This one also had some kind of a fender bender as part of the front bumper is missing.
Anybody want to "fess up" as the owner of one of these 4 FJC's?? I know you're out there!!! I am so envyous of these guys and girls who now know each other by there FJC. I want to be able to say that I definitely saw somebody in their new freaking FJC, the coolest SUV around.
OK, I'm in. Just got my new FJC July 19th. Titanium Metallic. Pretty much all the bells and whistles except I opted for the 2WD. What a kewl ride. Traded an 02 Tacoma for this. I'm very happy with the move although the Tacoma was a great truck. This is the 8th brand new Toyota I've ever owned since 1981 between my wife and I and trust me when I say that not one repeat not one has ever been back to the dealership for even the slightest little problem (KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK ON WOOD) since driving them off of the dealership. I think that speaks volumes for Toyota's reliability and quality.
As for me, I live in Gretna and since I drove it off the lot I've yet to see another one on the road. Judging by the response I'm getting from others I'd be willing to bet that thats going to change in the near future. I'm used to riding a motorcycle on a regular basis and acknowledging other motorcycles, so does this mean I'll be acknowledging other FJ owners. I'm a fairly congenial person so I guess that could be a good thing. I'm looking forward to possible future mods such as lifting it up a few inches simply because I've always enjoyed the look of a raised truck and some larger tires and judging by some of the pictures I've seen of some raised FJ's they do look pretty kewl. For now I'm just enjoying the new ride. What a unique vehicle. I love it. Kinda sounds like a commercial doesn't it? Ok boys, lookin forward to some future post! I took my head out of the sand, who's next?
Great to hear from someone else in La. I still don't understand why the folks driving FJC's in La. seem so stand-offish. I wave and get nothing...I flash the brights and get nothing...I have always liked the way that motorcycle riders acknowledge one another. What do I have to do to get these other people to stop acting like I'm not there? You can't miss this sun fusion coming at you!!
BTW, now that I'm done ranting, welcome to the forum and Congrats!!! Enjoy the ride and the obsession!!!
Glad to hear from you. Man those are some AWESOME PICS!!! Looks like you guys had a fun time, except for the sliding backwards thing. I guess that is what you get for having to go wheeling in a jeep (ha ha ha). JK. I know what you mean though about getting religious in a setting like that. Before the wife and I had kids, we loaded up my Honda Passport 4X4 with all kinds of camping gear and just took off with no plan. We wound up camping in Stone Mountain in Ga then a few days in S.C. and N.C. through the mountains, through Tn. and back to La. The trip was a week long adventure and was a heck of a lot of fun. We kinda got religious on that trip!! That was one of only two times that I used the 4WD shift in the Passport (hence the reason I went for the 2WD this time).
Anyway....
As you can see from this thread, still not many wanting to "admit" that they are from La. I still can't figure it out. I did, however, finally geta wave yesterday from a guy in a Titanium here in Mandeville (I must confess that I actually live in Mandeville, but if I put that as my location most people would say, "Huh??" so I just say N.O. It's so much easier.)
