Now, if you just want to get together somewhere on a weekend and see a bunch of FJ's all together, I'm in. Anybody interested?

For sure, when I'm in town...Actually just moved form Kenner to Grand Junction, CO but hopefully on my way back to New Orleans! I'm in town often anyhow, can't keep away from the friends & such!

I just moved to NOLA (Algiers Point) in August. Before I got a place to live I got myself a nice little blue FJ. Can't stop smiling ever since. My FJ is the first offroad car I ever had - I wouldn't mind to take it into the dirt with some one who has experience.
Again when I'm in town sure, I'm not sure what there is around that area for wheelin', maybe in Central/Northern LA, but the spillway is all I could think of...Not my style, but wouldn't mind hanging out with some Fj owner's!

Re: Who else is from Louisiana?

I'd be interested in a get together. A trail run would be great but there is not much of that to be had around here. An FJ Night at a bar or restaurant would be easy enough. Gotta keep the cult going; or one day we'll wake up and realize it's just a car.

Hey Saqqara,
What type of bike is that? I used to ride a BMW R1150 GS and yours looks pretty close to that type.

Re: Who else is from Louisiana?

It's a Kawasaki KLR650. Indeed, it is a dual sport, somewhat more dirt oriented than the GS but I've outfitted mine to be more of an adventure tourer.

Where do you go to get the FJ dirty?

I've got a Tellico trip report here
Newbie does Tellico

and a Mexico trip report on the KLR over on Advrider.com Chuckklr04 and Greg“s big Mexico adventure. - ADVrider

Definitely!! Anybody have any suggestions? Maybe Hooters on Veterans Blvd in Metairie? Or would you like to meet in B.R. / Hammond so more of our western and northern bretheren could get there a little easier? Maybe on a Sat. afternoon. Speak up and be heard!!

Re: Who else is from Louisiana?

Can any of you tell me where i can order King cake from. My wife is a Grambling grad and I am a Xavier grad. We haven't had King cake in a few years and we miss it. Also miss boudin from a place called Boudin King in Jennings. Does anyone know if Mackenzies or Gambinos are still around and shipping King cake?
Sorry about the off topic, but thought you all would have the info.

Thanks!

Re: Who else is from Louisiana?

The only mud I have gotten into recently has been on Deer hunting trips in Alabama. Before this truck, I had an 85 Toyota P-up 4x4, 90 Nissan 4x4Pathfinder, 93 4x4 full size Blazer, and a couple of years ago I bought a 96 Tacoma 4x4. I used to get dirty in the spillway, but I hear that's off limits for 4x4's now. I've heard of the jeeps going to some place around St. Francisville. I used to hunt around there and it's pretty nice. We'll have to find a place.

As for the motorcycles, I miss them. I got rid of mine a couple of years after my 1st son was born and I would like to get another(Dual Sport) in the future.

Maybe I will, and ask the wife for forgiveness instead of permission
