Maybe its just Eastern NC that is SO far away from a park. Looks like the 3-4 hour drive to Uwharrie is the closest.

I'm gonna buy a shovel and make my own...
You can always hit the beach!

Re: Southeast Off-roading Locations?

Thanks for all the suggestions...

I noticed there is a Gulches ORV in Laurens SC, that the FJC Trail Team as well as Clemson Off-road club will be at. Of course is the one weekend I work this month so I will have to catch up to another Trail event.

Re: Southeast Off-roading Locations?

River Rock in GA is a good spot as well. I am considering organizing an FJ Cruiser event there...I don't have an FJC, but hey! My sister does!

RRC Our Vision

It is a NICE place...wide open camping with the trails around the campsite...no drive to wheel. You can even hit town for meals if you wanted to...only about 4 miles away to eat.

Re: Southeast Off-roading Locations?

Might be a little far for some, but in western Maryland there is Green Ridge State Park. Great place for a campout, fishing/kayaking on the Potomac, hiking, and an awesome ORV trail. The Appalachian Trail runs right through it.

Wow! Very nice! Thanks for the referral!!!
It's actually called Coal Creek. Used to be a copper mine I think. Some cool big wind driven turbines at the top of one trail, hence the name Windrock. They've added some nice camp facilties in the last two years and is just down the road from Oak Ridge (and Knoxville really, just about 15 mins) so plenty of lodging. Here is the link:
