NC ORV Trails?

I'm looking for trails or fire roads etc. that I can try out the FJ. I live in Lincoln County, North Carolina and can't find any place close by.
I was thinking of trying Brown Mountain but I don't know much about it. Right now I do not want to have to travel hours away to get in some good trails.

Re: NC ORV Trails?

Your best bet would the the Uhwarrie National Forest off highway 49, east of Charlotte, just past Albermarle. Most trails are easily handled with a stock FJ with the exception of "Daniel". I'm planning on spending a day there next weekend unless my free time gets taken away from me.

Re: NC ORV Trails?

Hey Unleashed, how's it going? It's Brian down in Charlotte.. Hey I have been looking into places to go wheelin' as well, and other than Uwharrie and Tellico it looks like there's some decent trails near Beech mountian, in Richland. Anybody in NC have more info specific to here? Unleashed, let me know, maybe we'll take the Solar and Voodoo up there one Sunday and get'em dirty.

(Here is an old link from Yotatech, however I am not sure if this place is still open for wheelin'.)

Re: NC ORV Trails?

I would really like to try Uhwarrie sometime soon. I'll keep in touch with you if I can get around to making some plans.

Re: NC ORV Trails?

First check out Main Page - Dirtopia, the Off-Road Encyclopedia. If that doesnt work then one of the best resources to find trails yourself in your area is Google Earth.

If you find something interesting, take a moment to post a blurb about it on dirtopia and include some GPS coordinates.

P.S. Dirtopia is kinda new so there's mostly only trails for California, Nevada, and Colorado. But it's user supported and FREE!!

bf2junky, awesome resource, thanks a bunch! Unleashed, sounds good, I played at URE in my Jeep a while back and had a blast!

Re: NC ORV Trails?

As far as Brown Mountain it is not all that good it only has two trails out of 10+ that you can take your rig on the rest are for ATV's and bikes. Uwharrie is a good choice and there is also a place down in SC that a few of us went to a little while back called Gulches and I highly recommend it. If you are going to be heading out any where post it as I am sure there are a number of people interested in getting out before it gets to cold out.
