Looks like some other folks from Atlanta are going as well as my wife and I. I'm will be able to commit to a caravan later. We're trying to plan a trip to Yellowstone on the same roadtrip.

I should be in with my family unless something interferes. Should be a great time...

For laughs I mapped the route from Durham to Ourary. Yahoo's map was not what I would call direct. It wants to route all the way up to West Virginia then back down South via I-81 to I-40 in Knocksville, TN. On the Ouray side it wants to go all the way North and then come back South on US-550. Its hard to judge roads in a montainous state like Colorado, but it looks to be more direct to take US-550 Noth from I-40 instead of hooking around from the North. Google maps wants to route up to WV to get to I-64 and then I-64 to I-70. Ouray is far closer to I-70 than I-40 so this route is far more direct and is about 200 miles shorter than Yahoo's. Since I plan to be taking 2 weeks off I don't have any specific timetable so I might drive out on one and back on the other. Anyone know what condition I-64/I-70 are in? Some 4 years ago I drove I-40 out to Los Angeles and with the exception of Arkansas the road was pretty good.
Im here In Lawrenceville Ga and Im going to try to go...It would be neat to see so many cruisers rockin and rollin all the way to the Mile High State...Ill be working on the better half to see if she will give in..

Mark, welcome! I don't mean to hijack the thread, but if you want to wheel this weekend, check out this thread! We'd be glad to have you!

We are planning on going out I40, but we are leaving out early and take in Cayonlands and Arches National Parks before heading into Ouray.

I am also either heading out early or staying late. Planning to make this a 2 week trip. On my agenda are the cliff dewllings in CO and monument valley. Not sure what else yet. My best friend's wife is due in June, but they live in San Francisco and that would be quite an extra detour.
