Post Central Florida FJ'ers.....

Do you think we need our own "Official" website?

I dont think it would be a replacement to the forums, there isnt really a need to replace this.... but, maybe more of an official location for everyone to see past/current/future events and so forth......

Let me know your thoughts. I will gladly take care of the web needs, from hosting, coding, email, ect ect..... NODDA PROBLEM.......

I think "we" are really growing, and it just might be time to move out of mom & dads house, and venture into the world...........

Lets hear............

Re: Central Florida FJ'ers.....

Yeah I already thought about something like that. But for FJCs and my Jeep Buds too. Set it up once, took it down after some testing, got busy, put it on the back burner.

Now nothing there. When I have some time, will probably do it again.

Re: Central Florida FJ'ers.....

ehm....I do run the floridafjcruisers.com site. No one told me what they wanted to so I went with what I thought would be helpful. Corey, Dom, etc. thought it was a good idea to have forums like that. Do you want me to take it down? No one likes it

Edit: Fix the title of this thread, there are FJs all over Florida not only in C.Florida

Re: Central Florida FJ'ers.....

Well there are a lot of forums already out there. Mine was going to be just for friends.

I go to about 6 or 7 forums now.

It doesn't seem we need another. Since this place has a wealth of info for FJCs, it is hard to replace it.

But this is just MHO

Re: Central Florida FJ'ers.....

Im thinking something more along the lines of a usergroup type site,
but with more functionality and features...

Like what you ask?....

Well:

MEMBER LEVEL
I would say Two to Three membership/member levels (to start with)

1. ADMIN / LEADER
2. OFFICIAL MEMBER
3. NEWBIE / INVITEE / ROOKIE

Membership would be by invite only, invites sent from LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2 members only. Invites would be initiated via site member areas only, via Generated invite codes.

OFFICIAL MEETUP INFO
Some times its difficult reading through +13 pages of forum threads. Having our 'official home' for these events would be helpful I think. Especially when you're fully packed for camping, but you missed the single thread that indicated camping was off.

We could also setup email alerts for those who have selected/chosen to participate in events. This would not only help us in coordinating said events, but would also keep those interested in attending abreast of potential new developments and/or changes to upcoming plans they have opted in on.

LONG & LAT COORDS
Ability to store/share spot Coordinates, for Level 1 & 2 Members only.

This would also be helpful for meetups in having the locations in a database repository, as well as gathering meetups & spot data (times visited, number of FJ's at spot, ect ect)

These are a few of my thoughts/ideas/visions on this, excluding some of the obviously and silly things we could have here (pictures, requirements, faq, ect) I think you'll get a good grasp on the direction, and level, Im thinking to take this.....

From here I think we'll start to become an organized group, which will certainly lead to additional needs and wants which will be easy Im sure (speaking as the developer here obviously).

MT, if you want since I am hosting it and all, I can give you access and you can play around with it. Let me know if that is the case, you can email me or PM me, MSN, AIM, etc.

Let me know!

I am really hesitant about having a list of spots to ride, that unknown people have access to. Its different to take somebody to a place. But a list seems to open up a bag a of worms to me. Just think of what happened to Jimmy's secret spot.

It seems to work Ok the way it is now. Sure it is not super easy but it is not really that hard, especially for the quality of the rides we have.

I guess I am going to hold my secret spots a little tighter. lol

That's a good point Paul...Maybe just have coords. of our meeting spots and that's it...If someone wants coords. they have to show up and wheel with the group...I think it would be cool to have just only our Florida pics and videos on the site...
