June 30th Eglin Wheelin Get Together

Okay, lets try this again. I plan on doing some wheeling and camping out at Eglin AFB and I think some of you kind folks would like to join in for some fun! Check out the trails, and pics, that we can travel here : West Eglin Wheelin Weekend

No you don't have to be military or have base stickers to access the reservation, just a recreational pass, which I have taken care of already (we will all be using mine).

There are motels available at the junction of Hwy 87 and I-10, along with a Waffle House and KOA RV park. From this intersection to the rendezvous spot (red X) is approx 6 minutes.

I will be meeting up with anyone who chooses to come along at the pit area right off Hwy 87, (N30 33 26.79 W86 55 10.03) at 10am. Bring a picnic for the trail. I'll be setting camp that evening by 6pm, where depends on number of people staying the night. Camp sites are primitive.

Very much wish I could go butt..... People you are missing a great opportunity to have a super time on this run. When I was in the army we went to Eglin and it is a superplace get off your butts and go wheel with Apexbasher. I will make it to one of your runs probably later this year when it cools a bit because I am a super wimp to the heat. Here is a

) Really folks, this will be a great day of moderate off-roading. Never been? Here is an EXCELLENT chance to cut your teeth and see what your rig can REALLY do. Even in stick form (mine still is).

I would love to go and relive my youth but, I am going to Tellico this weekend. The crappy part is that I will be at Hurby on Tuesday and working for a couple days in the Panhandle (with a broker trying to find new ice cream store areas) on the way home from TN but, cant really stretch it out til the weekend. Maybe I can try to hook up with you for lunch or dinner while I am up there. PM me if interested. Karl

Been there a few times. Nice little hills to climb and some tricky washouts if you dare. Lots of sand. Might try to get up there if I can.

Love to have you! I was starting to get worried there for a while. Not a lot of FJ owners around here are enthusiastic about off road stuff. Where you at?
