Ocala Nat'l Forest - Juniper Springs, etc.

Hey, I think my girlfriend and I are going up to Juniper Springs this Thursday (6/28) and maybe staying in town over night.

Any nice expedition style scenic ORV accessible routes in the Ocala Forest? Just looking for scenic routes - nothing too challenging since we're going to be up there by ourselves and I haven't decided on real tires yet.

Thanks!

John

You can get a map of the the Forest Roads from the Ranger's Office. It is located on 19 south of 40, almost to Altoona. I hope this helps.

Poorbadger; I don't know if you have internet access, but you may want to check these sites:
http://www.ocalajeepclub.com/images/...calaphaseI.jpg
http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/florida/loca...opp_mapjpg.pdf

Also, you can look up in here by Search.

Additionally there's a private place: "Hardrock Motor Park"
there's a charge but it's okay for a few hours run. They'll be opening the "rollercoaster" area this weekend.

Re: Ocala Nat'l Forest - Juniper Springs, etc.

Awesome! You guys are all very helpful!

Yep, we'll stop by the ranger's office for maps for sure.

I'm aware of HardRock from Mtn Biking but never actually been.

Gwagg - those pictures look great! I do have a GPS but I've been holding off on a MapSource product till Sept. when they're rumored to be releasing a new version. Might have to bite early instead. Maybe one of the Topos or the Trip & Waypoint Manager. I'm excited to load the route up and check it out - thanks for sharing.

Looks like we're going to have to plan a couple trips - we're down in St. Pete so it's not too bad of a trip provided the destination.

I'm not sure how to read the Ocala OHV Trail System maps - does ATV imply Jeeps/Trucks/FJCs/etc - I originally assumed Tris & Quads.

Of the ATV routes mapped out...

Delancy
Hog Valley
Longleaf
Pipeline
Tobacco Patch
Wandering Wiregrass

... does anyone have favorites or other comments?
