Cool Oops,This is gonna suck....

Well some of you know i had to make a "field" repair of my muffler. i slapped(welded via a porta-weld connected to a battery) on a Thrush glasspak(cherry bomb lookalike) well i did this in some trails with a friend of mine, not so good on the upper weld, small leaks. That is not the problem, cutting and re-mounting the pipe it was a little off of the stock allignment, heighth wise okay. well it was shifted a little more to the center of the beast rather than the side. all of a sudden my dash lites come on and i think its my gas cap so i run by the dealer to reset it....... well my newly added hack job mod just melted my corragated tubing comming off the charcoal filter cannister dead center under your rear end. this device filters gas vapors from your engine and fuel tank, no big deal,it wont hurt my performance but i can rplace the filter once i get my exhuaust fixed. Tube is 65 bucks+labor(no warranty due to my fault)well it could get alot worse. if i get the tube and they reset the lights and the code pops back on it means that cannister is bad because dirt and crap got in it......this thing is 850 bucks

i hope since i havent gone off roading and i cleaned it real good before it melted thru and lost vapor lock, that i didn't fuc% up the cannister.

Wow, that sucks. Thanks for the heads-up - I've got my fingers crossed for you. When will you know about the canister?

John

Re: Oops,This is gonna suck....

It seems your FJC keeps thinking up new and unusual ways to cause problems.

That sucks!

I seem to remember, I had a Flatlander tell me he knows of a place around here that has a wrecked FJC and is parting it out. If you need a used part (like that canister) I could try and find out about it for you.

Re: Oops,This is gonna suck....

exhaust sounds great, that part is done, and while i had it up on the lift.....i had a high clearance end piece made up for it. so if you guys like how my exhaust sits way hi and out of the way, the guy will do it for around30-40 bucks, out on the way to richloam area is where he is at.
well keep those fingers crossed that it is just the tubing not the filter. i will have it all done before the jam so still count me in on the ride before hand
