Wilmington, NC Wheelin???

I'm headed down to the Wilmington area in a few weeks and wondering if there are any wheelin opportunities in that area?

you can go south of wilmington to Kure beach and drive on designated beaches there. there is a charge of $5 per day, if i remember right.

it's actually Carolina Beach , just north of the wooden pier .. it costs 10$ and probably isn't what you are looking for since it's tourist season and will be full of people camping that don't appreciate sand blow up from hauling too fast ..but if you're just looking for some semi deep sand to putt around in you can try there.

Fort Fisher ( just north of the aquarium ) has a sand trail out to the point but it's been closed everytime I've been around there lately .. it's fun if it's open

note: don't try to go on the dunes, it's turtle nesting habitat and you might end up in jail , get a huge nasty fine , aswell as your vehicle being impounded

I can't really think of any other area in Wilmington to offroad but you might want to head a few miles west to the Lumberton area and ask around there
