Re: Mounting tires...

MTRs suck offroad in the SE, they are good for a moderate trail tire and on road/looks tire. I had a set of brand new 35s and sold them a few months later because they just didn't grip well in the sloppy/wet stuff.

That's why the new genration of MT's from Firestone are incedible. They perform better ACROSS THE BOARD inll conditions, particularly dry & wet pavement, mud, rocks, etc.

While I think the BFG KO AT's are a great tire, they're pretty damn slick on wet pavement.

Plus most are reporting 40 to 50 -k + on their tires & most is ON ROAD (most MT tires are so soft they're gone after 20-k)

Yeah, I've had a few sets of BFG MTs - love them. I figured the MTRs would be better on road and just as good off - thanks for the heads up... they're out! Down to the BFGs and the Firestone Destination MTs... gotta love the price of the F'stones!

Rick... I have always liked swampers (had Boggers on a previous Jeep) but these will be the daily driver tires - not going to swap back and forth from the alloys/ATs to the steelies/MTs as originally planned. So, I want a "mild" MT, e.g. the BFG, Destination MT, MTR, etc. Sucks too - the Swampers are damn cheap for what you get!

I got my Hankooks off an eBay seller for $153 shipped to my house. I wouldn't trade these tires for anything.......well

Re: Mounting tires...

I've been using one of those harbor freight tire changers with good results.
Item number 34542-8VGA if you want to look on their site and see one.
It will handle big tires, I've used it with some 16/35r15 boggers on 15x14 wheels. PITA but it got the job done.
