I have to give it to Paul. He took me on an outing in Florida yesterday and it was awesome. It is one of his secret places but, it is nice to know we have a 4wheelin Mecca locally. I can't beleive the amount of rocks to climb there (I was climbing not shooting pix so you'll have to be patient for Paul & Josh). I think we'll have to keep the groups small to keep its knowlege the same but, I can't get over the fact I don't have to drive 10 hours + to do some real wheeling.
Here are a couple pix from yesterday to wet the preverbial wheelin palate!
Paul's previously unconquerable hill (yes the one the jeep flipped end over end on)!

Being conquered for the 2nd time (angle is very deceiving it is alot steeper than it looks). I don't know why he wouldn't go down it!

Small hill that Paul is coming down!

ran it a fellow Landcruiser. Ronny from Gainesville.

Trying to show us how to make it up a wall in his beast. Too slickery even for this beast.

Leaving the wall defeated!

You can kinda see in this pic the elevation changes. Hey I am the wheeler not the photographer whad a ya expect!

Was there even a Jeep with us? Tell Josh sorry that I didn't get any pix of him. Hope to see some of me wheelin up here soon. Thanks again for showing me this place. My security clearance is still operational and I will hold this place close to my heart. K
I'm thinking it might be time to start thinking about moving back to FLA. I used to live in Ormond Beach on the penninsula side in the early '80s then I joined the Navy. I am now in Ohio due to certain circumstances is where I now live. There isn't much in the way of wheelin' except for some occassional muddin' when a farmer rents out his field in the off season. I also miss the fishin' I lived right between the ocean and the halifax river so I always had a choice depending on the season and what was running. It's been a long time since I've been there, most of my friends have all moved away (most of us went off and joined the military and have lost touch with each other) and wouldn't really know anybody there now. I wouldn't nec. have to move back to where I used to live, as it is still a retirement area with not much in the way of employment. I am retired Navy and do pretty good in the way of income, however, at the moment I am paying off some bills and would prob. be better off staying put until I can free up some cash. Anyway, just thinking out loud. Some feedback on diff. area's to live in Fla. would be much appreciated. thanks for listening, I get a bit winded at times.

Sleepy Ormond is waking up! For that matter so is Daytona, Palm Coast, & Port Orange (hell the whole state is). There are plenty of great areas to reside in but, I love the Tampa Bay area (especially North). If you are semi-cool (hell you got an FJ & your were in the military so you already have cool points) you already have built in friends throughout the Central Florida area. Comon down the water (and sand and hills and mud and rocks) are fine. K
Might be a while the photagrapher and I just spoke and he has some stuff to do today but, here are a couple more. Like I said I am the designated wheeler not the cameraman. Can't wait to get up to your area. K
Fla. does rock! How is cost of living on the gulf coast? I really have never known anyone who lives there. Ormond back in the day was pretty quiet, you had to go south to Daytona for any kind of night life. Around spring break the spot for us was 600 North! Man that brings back some good memories. Working at Publix getting off and a bunch of us headin' south looking for eutopia! Back then the term "Fish On" meant a variety of things. Anyway, it sounds like your getting busy for today so I'll check out this thread later on. Have a good one!

How in the world did you guys make it up that hill!
atrac; no locker; 2nd gear and lots of gas. I was bangin off the rev limiter the top half of it. After I drove back down Josh (jeep guy) shamed (I mean challenged Paul) and then wouldn't go up it himself. We found way scetchier ones on the back side of that place but, I was in and Paul and Josh were shooting so i am sure we'll see them sooner or later. K
Coming down was way scarier (I am glad you know how nasty it is because my crappy photography doesn't do it justice.
