Jacksonville FL area locations

I am new to the Jax area, just relocated from Charlotte NC. Anyone in this area have some favorite spots they would be willing to share? My truck is in desperate need of some mud!

thanks all.

You could always do what I did. I joined a large 4x4/Jeep club here in Tampa Bay area. Went on a lot of rides with them. Still a member.

Re: Jacksonville FL area locations

To be honest, I don't know of any areas here.

Most of the people I know who crave mud go to Lawtey which is out toward Ocala if memory serves me correctly. The closest to mud I get is dirt roads.

St. Johns town center. where the lake is (just infront of the mall) turn down the dirt/gravell road. Mud pits, hill climbs, and sand. Its close and always fun . FYI Don't let the cops get you!!! I haven't had problems though.

We have some fun over in Osceola National Forrest out I10 30 minutes. We go out there for HOURS and have a blast. LOTS of mud since it's the southern part of the Okeefenokee Swamp. There are miles and miles of trails out there. I have spent days out there Geocaching and discovering new areas to test my FJ's capabilities.

Re: Jacksonville FL area locations

Thanks to all for the replies. I did run into a Jeep guy last week and echo'd what Apex said, they hit the Osceola National Forrest. As luck would have it, I will be heading to Tallahassee for a few days next week so might just give this a go on the way back.
My weekends are shot for the next month or so but if anyone would be up for running out there during the week, PM me.

thanks all

Re: Jacksonville FL area locations

Over by Nocatee I saw some powerline roads that looked fun. A little mud and a few hill climbs, easily seen from the road. Anybody been out there? This was last week on the way out to Mickler beach for anybody who was wondering. I'll try to grab some coordinates if it shows on google earth.

Edit:

Google earths images are to old... It aint visible.

Is a locked PreRunner able to have some fun there?
