Re: Where are you going in your FJ?

This is a problem everywhere with EVERY outdoor activity. Yuppy dumbasses think that because they have a maid at home that someone will come along and return the campsite they have jacked on someone's land back to the original state.

Everytime we go camping we pack out MORE than we pack in because we are trying desparately to ensure that we will continue to have that land to use. It was a habit I picked up in Colorado, an effort to keep the outdoors beautiful. Say what you will about smokers, but even I put my butts in my pocket when we are camping or in "nature" so to speak.

People SUCK. We are an over-breeding parasitic organism hell-bent on destroying our host.

Here Here!
Although once I do get my FJ, I would like to hang out (going trailin') with some environmentally responsible veterans. I would be a newbie but willing to learn. I would like to learn the right ways to trail. Hell I'd be interested in Pancho's fresh trail group.

But yes people do suck. We as a society have lost some manners (present company included ) and it would be nice to be around some well mannered trail-ers.

It's not just the yuppies, it's pretty much anybody.

We do the same thing when out on the trails. We carry trash bags with us and anytime we come across anything that has been tossed out, we pick it up and carry it out. We even do clean up events where we specifically go out to just do clean up. We do these types of events alot here on the Texas Gulf Coast beaches.

By the way, the guys in our club that smoke do the same thing with their butts as you do. When they are done, they field strip it and the butt goes in their pocket until they can empty them into a trash bag.

Re: Where are you going in your FJ?

It's just a matter of respect. There is nothing like the let down you feel when you finally get somewhere after hours of driving and negotiating back roads and a short hike with all of your gear out into the boonies to find trash left by someone else. It sucks. If you clean up, it always feels like you are the only person that's been there. It gives everyone the opportunity to feel like the first person who has ever been there. It's a fun feeling and part of the enjoyment of the outdoors.

Re: Where are you going in your FJ?

As soon as I get mine, i will take a weeks vacation. Houston via Tennesee and head to my parents home in West Virginia, I know some serious off roads. Probably, not going to want to get it dirty at first.

Re: Where are you going in your FJ?

One of my favorite things to do is go fishing out on the island where I live. Padre Island National Seashore is 55 miles of completely natural uninhabited beach. Once you go past the popular beach spots there is a sign that reads, " 4x4's ONLY Beyond This Point" Due to the tides and the sea grasses it is a fisherman's dream. Red fish and Black drum larger than your arms can stretch not to mention a variety of sharks such as Black Tips, Hammerheads, and more. My ol' Dodge 4x4 handles the rough sandy trails pretty well and Im interested if the FJ will do better. I cant wait!!
