Any good trails around Boone, NC

We'll be there looking at schools for my daughter in 2 weeks. Might have some time to drive around the mountains.

Any suggestions welcome, nothing too crazy, gotta get home again.

Appalachian State is a great school! I'm an '86 grad. Haven't been there in many years, but I do miss the area, and my dad still lives in Asheville (Weaverville). I always love it when I get to go back for a visit, although it's hard to get there since there are no major airports in the area.

I lived in a cabin about 15 miles outside of Boone off the Blue Ridge Parkway when I went to school there....wow...truly beautiful country.
