Adopt-A-Highway Sat March 22nd noon***********
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This coming Sat the 22nd at high noon we will be having a normal Adopt-A-Highway. We will be meeting beside the F-Mart. Usually this takes no more than a couple hrs to do (the more people we have the quicker it is) and there is a really nice state park at the end to take family and go for a hike after. We always meet back at the F-Mart for a few hot dogs and a Nehi Grape soda. Directions and link to a map.
Take Business 25/276 north thru Travelers Rest, Marietta and Cleveland to he F-Mart store and signs for Jones Gap State Park and River Falls Road on the right.

Gulches Sat April 5th**********
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two weeks later we will be meeting at the Gulches for some wheeling and fun. I know this would normally be our Monthly Meeting but because of the event going on at the Gulches we decided to move it back a week.
http://www.gulchesorvpark.com/map.pdf
We will be meeting at 10am that Sat the 5th of April at the Gulches. If any of you want to be at my house around 9 I will lead a convoy out. E-mail me for directions. Gulches is hosting a competition that day. So there will be a lot going on. You can wheel, watch other wheel or do a little of both. The event will be moving around the park so some section will be closed and then reopened. It is a lot of fun. It's $10 to wheel and $10 to watch. Bring the kids and family they will like it.
The next Sat April 12th at 6pm we will be having our monthly meeting located at the Sonic in Mauldin off Butler Rd. Come and hang out with us around the cruisers.

Club SHAMONwich April 25th-27th*************
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been throwing this idea around for some time now but I think with an open month before GSMTR this would be a good time to pull the trigger.
April 25th-27th
Alan Hardin's house. Cleveland, SC.
One of the single most popular things that needs to be done on a cruiser is to rebuild the front and rear axles.
Friday starting after 5, all day Sat and Sunday. We either camp or stay at a hotel nearby. Those details can be worked out. But we will provide a shuttle to and from the HAMON. I'd also like to use this time to hold some classes.
First and foremost will be an axle rebuild class to get everyone familiar with what we will be tackling.
2nd will be a Differential rebuild class. This will include how to install an ARB locker as well as installing chromo birfields into an early housing. I will work with Richmond Gear or Aussie locker and see if they will donate a locker to show how a ratchet locker is installed. Maybe we could get someone to step up to the plate and show us how to take out and install a third member in an FJC. Since they have had some issues.
3rd and if there is time will be a transfer case rebuild class. Including single piece 3 and 4 speed t-cases as well as the split case. I have a split case that can be rebuilt and probably the majority of the single case found on 40's.
What you need to think about now. What you want to do. You will need to have all the parts needed to do a rebuild. I will have 2 complete sets of axles there for any 40 or 60 series that may run into an issue. If we get enough people interested I'm sure Kurt with Cruiser Outfitters would be willing to do a group buy for us. You will also need the basic tools. A metric socket set and box wrenches are a must. I will have everything else to do the jobs properly. Just remember you will be doing the work with someone helping you do it right. The whole point of this exercise is to give you the confidence of being able to do this on your own.
Also anyone who wants to tackle anything else can join in on the fun I as well as others will be willing to give out any help we can. Since GSMTR will be the next month this might give you a good chance of being able to get your vehicle ready.
All in all it ought to be a lot of fun and a great learning experience for all.
Note: This will also be our Monthly meeting. It will start at 6pm that Sat.
If your interested in participating or just coming to give a hand and learn something post below. If you have any ideas throw them out.
We will also have a steam cleaning pressure washer available to help clean the vehicles up before we tear into them.

I cannot stress enough how import it is that we try to get as many people attend this event. As most of you know Tellico is under attack. Trout Unlimited filed suit late last year to have the area closed. As a result the Forestry Service closed some of the trails. Not all and not many but even one is more than what I would like to see. This is just the start of an effort to close the whole park down. GSMTR held by the STLCA is one of the premier events in Tellico and by far the closest TLCA event to UC. Hundreds of Land Cruisers will be in attendance. All of the clubs in the Southeast will have a strong attendance. I'd like to see the biggest Cruiser club in the Southeast, UC, have a very strong attendance. We have reserved some cabins but they are filling up fast. Those that register for the event have free camping at Crawford's where the cabins are. The event is for the whole week. But you don't have to attend the whole time. Contact me if you have any questions. All the event information is in the thread above.
Other events that are planned but dates have yet to be scheduled are:
June-July we are planning on having two events. One up near Pisgah that is camping ,bike riding, Hiking and trail riding event. The other will either be an event at Ken McDaniel's house at Jocassee with trail riding through the horse pasture.
Other events that have already have dates. Yes we like to plan ahead.
UC Annual BBQ "The Great Pig in the Sky" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where: McNabb Campground
Shrimp & Crab boil Oct 3rd-5th 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are on. Reservations have been made.
Oct 3rd-5th
Hunting Island, SC
We have reserved two group camp sites with a capacity of 60 people.
There are also RV sites available as well as nice cabins for those who want heat/ ac (1,2,3 bedroom) I'd suggest you think about reserving them now if you want one.
Camping will be only around 2-3 dollars a person. But we will try to figure out a good price per person that would include seafood and other food for the weekend.
We will have some boils and fry's Friday and Sat night. The ultimate goal will be for us to catch a majority of what we eat. Chuck myself and maybe someone who is local will work on trying to find a charter we can take on Sat. Possibly Friday night. I don't know how shrimping will be in the area. But I'm always willing to try to load the boat up. Hauling my boat down might be a giant undertaking but I'll see if I can find someone to haul it for me. If not I'm sure we will find a place to buy a bunch of bushels of oysters and shrimp.
