Going to Blue Ridge next week...any good trails near?

I'll be in Blue Ridge, Ga next week and wondering if there are any decent trails in the area for a beginner? I have some moderate offroading experience but don't want anything too hard where I might get stuck without any help to get out. Thanks.

Look at the Beasley Knob trails near Blairsville, GA. About 20 miles away. You'll drive by the US Forest Service office on the way. They have maps.

Or, Tellico is only about an hour away... near Murphy, NC. The US Forest Service in Murphy has maps. Try Trails #4 and 5 to start. Trail #6 should be OK for you too.

Try to hook up with someone local if you can at the trailheads.

Stay away from Beasley Knob if it rains. The Georgia red clay is very slick.

Good luck and have fun.

x2 on above comments. Beasley is fun as long as it is dry. The hills are very, very steep and you'll certainly slide into something "off trail" if you attempt it in wet conditions.
