I cant remember what trail this is but it looks like they took all of the climbs out and filled it with rock/gravel/dirt. There use to be a rocky ledge area to the left in the picture where you climbed up out of the creek. Then to the right there was a rutted out trail. Then in the back there was another rock ledge to climb to get up to the spot where the FJ's are parked. I think this may have been Trail 4 but I get the trail names mixed up all the time. Im more of a visual guy.
That's Fain's Ford on trail 4 after the river crossing, it use to be a nice obstacle but after they did the trail maintenance they took all the fun out of it!

I thought that was it but wasn't sure. I know it use to be a lot more difficult then a gravel road.

This is what it looked like at that spot in '06. It appears from your pictures that they've filled it in with a bunch of rocks!

I posted this in the other thread, but thought I'd copy it here in hopes that more people will see it...And as to the comments on the easiness of trails 4 & 5, we do all of our trail maintenance at Tellico using 60s vintage 5 ton Military Dump Trucks and while they will climb the old ledges on 5 and the former ledges at Fain's, they tend to tear up the rear track arm suspension. So in an effort to spend our time fixing issues on the trails rather than the fixing the trucks, changes had to be made. Change a couple of track arms on those beasts on the trail and I think you'll agree! Anyway, see below for my comments and thanks again to those who attended and to those who didn't we hope you can make it next year!

Well I don't get over here much, but thought I snoop around to see what ya'll thought of our "last" GSMTR, well STLCA's anyway. Since we are passing the torch to Upstate Cruisers, we'll actually get to enjoy it next year!! Upstate has some great ideas and I believe the membership to pull them off. Ya'll make sure to check out their site to see what they have in store.
Thanks to all your comments! It really means a lot that you folks had a great time, and made Mo jealous in the process.
I want to personally thank Rick, Terry, Heather, Mo and ALL those that pimped the event in the other thread. I didn't see it till tonight and for that I have to apologize for not thanking you at the event! You guys truly helped us reach our goal of 100 trucks (103 actually!) After we settle the accounting, I'll post up the details so ya'll can see where the money goes and how much your participation helped the Rescue Tellico fund.
I'm glad everyone seems to have had a great time, but if you have any ideas on things that could be done differently please let me know, either here or email me (dashtrucker (at) gmail (dot) com)
For those that are members (or your local clubs are members) of SFWDA, STLCA be hosting the Summer Convention at Crawford's June 13-15 with the East Coast Trail team in attendence. Please visit the SFWDA website for details.
It looks like GSMTR went off without a hitch, as usual. I have a very minimalistic key ring but my GSMTR tag is on it! I don't even use my alarm fob, that's how little I like to have extra stuff on the key ring!
Thanks for sharing the pics! Where's the one(s) of you, Todd??

Haha! Hey Mo! Terry told us you wanted to come, but just couldn't swing it
As to the pics, don't have those up yet, but here's a video of me on School Bus on Saturday...after most people left...it was the only day I got to really wheel. It ain't Warren Miller quality, but oh well
Awesome! The one thing about Tellico is that you're bathed in dappled green light from all the leaves and moss and stuff. Thanks!!
I'll be there next year one way or another. You KNOW that drive doesn't scare me!

Thanks Todd, Roger and STLCA for putting another class event together. UC hopes to continue the tradition next year. We are already hard at work making the preliminary outline of the event. I can promise we will try to involve all the local clubs as much as possible in helping in this event. So get ready. We have only a year to plan what will be the largest Cruiser gathering this side of the Mississippi. With 153 members we should have no problem in achieving this.
