Heading out to Uwharrie on Saturday morning to get my tires dirty for the first time. I could use any advice from folks with experience at Uwharrie and would love some company if anyone else was thinking along the same lines. Leaving Wake Forest around 6:00 AM, presumably at the trail head about 9:00 AM.

I'll most likely arrive at ~8:45am. It looks like about 2.5 hrs from Wake Forest. I would guess maybe ~1.5 hrs from Greensboro. If you decide to go, PM me and I'll reply with my mobile # to make it easier to coordinate.
If it's your first time at Uwharrie my advice is one get a map,two take along a spotter. Uwharrie is fun but rocky. Oh yeah watch out for the four wheelers they are every where.

Thanks for the advice. I assume I can get the best maps at the Eldorado Outpost? I have the typical NC Topo map book and a handheld Garmin GPS, but maybe that won't suffice.
...not sure if I can scare up a spotter. My son abandoned me for the beach this weekend. I also only have the front skid on right now.
Suggestions for Newbie-friendly trails in Uwharrie????
I might like to go with you. I have only been there once, scared the crap out of my fiance and daughter. May not run the trails because they really are rocky, even the easy ones. I may however take some guns and do some shooting. Maybe a picinic too.

Get the map at the outpost. You can also print it online from their website. It will show the trails in order of difficulty. The green trails should be ok if you're alone. There's usually enough traffic that if you have a problem someone will run across you. It's always best to run with at least one other vehicle.
Next Saturday, the 19th, I could make it up there. I absolutely love URE!
