Re: Colorado FJ's Mag Chloride Season is Here, WAX???
Someone in here asked what mag-chloride was. Well, interesting story with this stuff. Origninally it was sold to the Colorado voters as being safer for roads and rubber parts on cars than salt was/is. They raved that it has the same ph as water and was harmless. What they so cleverely forgot to tell everyone is that when it comes in contact with water it changes its ph and heats slightly from the chemical reaction therefore de-iceing the roads, BUT when it does this and gets on your car, it eats rubber wipers, boots, puts nasty film all over car and eats the crap out of the paint. Did I mention that its Enviormentally friendly too, but don't ask CDOT about why all the trees are dying along the roadways.......its harmless stuff though, it just kills paint, rubber and trees.
Hope that helps..........I got on my little soap box there for a second.
NOTE: it has reduced the amount of ice driving accidents significantly.
