Re: New Mexico FJ'ers

505FJ,

The OME is a great Kit. I exchanged it for the Donahoe only because I needed the adjustability. It is hard to beat the value prop on the OME though. Are you installing it yourself?

Re: New Mexico FJ'ers

A couple buddies and I. I'll probably just be getting in the way since they are much more mechanically inclined than I am. I just can't wait to get the dang thing. After that and taxes, I'll be getting a set of steelies from Wheelers and either the Cooper Discoverer STT or the Pro Comp Xtreme M/T.

Re: New Mexico FJ'ers

I think the lift makes a HUGE difference. Before that, mine really didn't look all that changed, even though I had put alot of the other external mods on it already, including the REVO's.

I have ordered the American Racing Chamber teflons, but the exact size I need is back ordered, so I am waiting. I think I will keep a second set of M/Ts on these for off-road use, and keep the REVO's on it most of the time.

Has anyone here replaced the U/L rear control arms? The stock ones look pretty weak, and I was interested in what the opinions here are.

Re: New Mexico FJ'ers

Hey Marc & 505FJ,
And me makes at least 3 for a get together. I sporadically monitor this section of the forum. I've got commitments through Saturday morning. How about a get together Saturday (2/24/07) evening? I'm OK w/ Billy's Long Bar on San Mateo. Anybody offer a suggested time? I won't be too interested in a time that is conducive to the meat market scene.

Re: New Mexico FJ'ers

I was in Albuquerque this past Christmas with the record snowfalls but didn't have my truck. Any of you get out to play in it? How did the FJ fair? Did you get stuck?

That was the largest snow storm in the last 50 years! A few days after I tried to get out to an easy trail the Kevin showed us but couldn't get up the entrance. My Geolander AT's couldn't find any traction on the slick wet rock.

Albuquerque FJ Happy Hour

This weekend is out for me, I will be at the family ranch in Bloomfield-Blanco area on the San Juan River. Hope to get in a little FJ fun.

In suggesting the get-together for ABQ area FJers, I would like to propose that we take into consideration the following thoughts. If you have others, please post them.

1. I was hoping for a time that would not impact people's weekend night social plans, as many people use this for going out, and I don't want to piss of anyone's wife/girlfriend/boyfriend or whoever for this.

2. It might be best during some daylight hours, as I am sure we might want to step out to check out each other's rig mods. Also, we avoid the late evening social scene and its crowd.

3. I think its nice to meet at a chill place to eat and drink, having a alcoholic drink being entirely optional. I had suggested Billys Longbar on San Mateo just north of Montgomery because it is such a place, and because I know the management/staff pretty well. They don't care who drinks alcohol or eats what, and they have a great big overflow parking lot in the back where its convenient to check out each others rigs. However, if this place makes anyone uncomfortable, I am open to any better suggestion.

4. I would like everyone to consider making this a regular event, say twice a month. We all have other lives, but if we have a regular time/day, we can plan accordingly.

5. I would like to keep it very informal and not too long, something of a drop in for a visit, get to meet other FJers, have some food or drink if you wish, check out mods, and move on or stick around as you like. I am sure that this will lead to other get togethers for off-road fun and such, but I think a social meeting/planning venue is a necessary starting point for what most of us have in mind.

6. I would like to propose this be done during the week. I know this is a bit inconvenient to some, but there is method to this madness: This way, if we are planning any off-road events, (which we will) they will likely be on Saturday's and Sundays, so we can get the final planning done, and make preparations and meeting arrangements for whoever will be going.

In light of this, I would like to propose two regular dates/times:

Choice A

The first and third Thursday's of the month, after work, 5:30 to 8:00 pm. (In March this would be March 1st, and March 15th).

Choice B

The first and third Tuesdays of the month, after work, 5:30 to 8:00 pm. (In March, this would be March 6th, and March 20th).

Let me know what you all think,

Marc

Re: New Mexico FJ'ers

Billy's sounds good to me. I work just down the street from there and they serve a darn good burger. I can meet there any day of the week after work.
