I just got my NMFJ Stickers too! Can't wait to put them on. Just got back from a trip and as I was pulling in the driveway - hissssssss! A big freakin' bolt in the tread of my rear tire. Jeeze. Good talking to you and catching up today Chris.

Re: New Mexico FJ'ers

Hey NMers! Well, my wife and I just got back from our one week whirlwind tour of your beautiful state, and I must say, we really didn't feel like coming home (except to see our pooch!).

We stayed at 6 different hotels/motels in 5 different cities in 6 nights: ABQ, TorC, Silver City, Las Cruces, Alamagordo, and ABQ (in that order). Since we were so short on time in each city and did a ton of running around while there, I didn't trouble anyone with trying to hook up (next time!). Saw a very nicely built-up Voodoo Blue in TorC on Thursday night, and then a nice lifted Sun Fusion in a parking lot near Old Town ABQ yesterday - if that was any of you here, "Hi!".

From what we saw of the state and the people we met, I think it's safe to say it's only a matter of time before we end up in your neck of the woods. Maybe I should get a sticker?

You probably saw Archy Chris's rig, real nice set up, plus the best color!!!! Let us know when you move, any reason to get out and wheel. Actually Chris is the one with the stickers.

That is a heavily debated (well, more like discussed ) question in our household at the moment, one we've only just begun to really dig into. There are pluses and minuses to every place we went and I expect it'll be a tough decision. We've probably got a year or even two to go before making the move, and still want to visit some other areas beforehand, too, so it might be awhile before we narrow it down.

I'm really excited to get the FJ down there and get out there with you guys - I can't tell you how many times I wished I had the FJ instead of the rental car...ugh. It was torture.

Is there any semblance of a tire-choice consensus down there, or is everyone running whatever they feel works for them (which is usually best, anyway)? I'm in the market for new shoes and I'm thinking the NM terrain might factor into the decision. Right now it's the Dick Cepek Mud Countrys in the front-runner position...

Marsh,
I'm the T or C owner! You should of honked or waved to get my attention and I would of pulled over to talk to you. Look forward to you moving to the great state of New Mexico. Glad to have you on aboard! chris

A few of us are running BFG KM2's, I can tell you to stay away from the Destination M/T. I was actually ripping lugs right off the tire, have done the same trails with the BFG's and no problems.

You need to check out northern New Mexico next time you come out. I really enjoy some parts of southern NM, but I don't think it compares to the mountains of northern NM.

I have the KM2's and they have been working out great. I also have a set of Pro Comp Xtreme MT's on our Jeep and they are pretty good too. Thus far I would recommend either. I mostly drive in the sand and on rocks. No mud yet. They both perform pretty well on the road, with a slight hum but balance and roll fine. I haven't had a chance to test the wet road traction yet.

Also, not that I want to talk you out of MT's, but what kind of wheeling will you be doing? I went with the MT's because I am developing an obsession with rocks and I was tearing up my AT's. You might not need them though.
