Figuring out where to relocate... help?

I just graduated and also just purchased an FJ cruiser, as you may have read in my introduction post.
I should be ecstatic, but low and behold I have no idea where I'm going to relocate too. I graduated with a civil engineering degree but for some reason finding a job isn't as easy as I had hoped.

So I am going out on a limb and wondering if you guys have any good advice for me, as to where to look to relocate too, so I can start my off-roading experience along with maybe landing a decent engineering job. I know I am probably asking a lot, or just being plain re-DONK-ulous!!! But any insight at all is appreciated.

Oh yah, I'm not really a city person, but if I am able to drive my FJ into the city and not deal with horrible traffic, 5 days a week for work, that'll be OK. If that helps with narrowing it down.

well I can say I never thought about that. how's the pay? I know the benefits are top notch. Not sure how I'd feel about working for the govt. though. The old be all you can be physical also kinda scares me, atleast from what I've heard from some of my friends that work for naval shipyards as engineers.

My advice, anyplace west of the Mississippi. Congrats on the degree, a difficult thing to do. Just go where you want to be, a good job will not override a place you hate being. Jobs tend to work themselves out...just do what you want most, you'll likely be there a while.

The southwest is growing and has lots of great trails. Check into state or county jobs. Maricopa and Pinal are two that cover the Phoenix area. Good luck!

Re: Figuring out where to relocate... help?

last I heard is AZ is no longer accepting applications...we're full!

My buddy is a civil engineer in scottsdale and from what I understand, the degree was the easy part...

Something about taking extra certs or licenses really helped him get a good job.

Check out NM! Very laid back and lots of rural places to ride around in.... Lots of technology type jobs... What type of engineer? I know of a lot of places looking for electrical.

Arizona, Colorado any of these are great. Tucson is awesome, nice weather trails everywhere, we also have a Mnt. w/ ski resort 45 minutes from town (Mt. Lemmon elev. 9500 est.), Arizona is growing rapidly for a reason (It's nice) hope this helps.
