Re: Front Range FJs & Friends Club Gathering

We need two start-up meetings...

#1- A mid-week evening get together at a spot somewhere in metro Denver

#2- An inaugural trail run on a weekend

For the trail run, I propose Mt. Bross... 14,172 feet.. awesome scenery and side attractions... 2500 year old trees... Good trail for non-heavily modded rigs...

Re: Front Range FJs & Friends Club Gathering

The votes are kinda swinging towards the weekend (I'm good anytime). So for the FIRST meeting, I'm thinking we need to get as many there as we can.

For a first run, Mt. Bross would be great.

Re: Front Range FJs & Friends Club Gathering

I voted for the weekend morning....well because I figured it would be fun to run with a bunch of FJers on some trail somewhere. It was a blast in Ouray. I am up for anything. I am looking forward to running with all of you.

Re: Front Range FJs & Friends Club Gathering

well here is some non-advice from our non-club as 1 of the non-members...
keep it loose and fun!
Lots of folks would more than likely enjoy a sat morning meet of say 1 hr then have a run...do that at least 1x month..
Then you can always do some weekday gatherings as folks houses (we are learning here in az that a restrnt has cost/hassle) that is more social/install/check out mods than runs...

Important things are to make sure eveyone understand what your group is about (for many it is having fun, hit the trails w/out tooo much carnage, tread lightly and such) and to help the new folks learn in an envirnmnt of understanding/coaching vs harshness

Of course since we are a non-club with non-members we pretty much wing it full time and between watching Kurt-homedadr break things, Jason-blackcherry teardown and rebuild his rig, me smoke cigars and Dan-3Dtonka & Katfish fight over who gets to drive (usually while the other post on the forum) we just try to have fun....

Good luck with your group and let us know when we can come up and play on your trails...and like Todd said you are always invited to run the red rocks with us.

Lance - Thanks for the great advice. Once we get started we can join you in AZ and you can join us again.

Re: Front Range FJs & Friends Club Gathering

i voted for all of the above too, I can make pretty much whatever work. The idea of doing a "group run" and "group gathering" once a month or so would be really great. I've only met and spoken with a couple people from the front range and i'd really like to meet more of you. A Gathering mid-week to go over stuff and get to know each other would be awesome and then a group run on the following weekend would be great.

OKAY, I'M CALLING IT>>>>

Sat, August 25th, Noon to 3pm at MY house.

Burgers, hotdogs, maybe brats. I'll fresh grind some chuck for the burgers, maybe make some brats if I have the time. I'll also have sides and water. BYOB if you desire. I have the "2006 Ultimate Adventure" DVD with the FJ, we can have that playing if anyone wants to watch. If anyone has "two roads" bring it.

I'm close to I-25 and Colorado Blvd. (Iowa & Glencoe) PM me or email at:
leo dot girardi at gmail dot com
so we have an idea of how many.

If anyone wants to bring anything food or drink wise that's great.

I'd like to know: (think about for the meeting)
-what days are best for people doing trail runs: sat, sun, or if anyone can do weekdays (Please someone say they can do weekdays).
-what days are good for mod days, if anyone needs help, etc
-trail suggestions, with difficulty levels.
-travel times, esp in the winter, that we might go visit our friends in AZ, etc.
-I think we want it to be FJ centric, but not snobbish or exclusive (get down here Ric, and anyone else). At the moment my best offroad buddies all have Jeeps, and some just have hiking shoes.

Also, would anyone want to go on a run Sunday the 26th? (red cone was mentioned, I think that would be great)

And let's bump this so everyone sees it.

-Leo-
