Exclamation Colorado Bound

I will be exploring in the Salida and Ouray areas during the third week of Sept. Looking for advise and or company. I have a stock FJ with rock rails and BFG A/T's. Mostly easy trails. I am prepared to camp out or not. I will travel to you if you are trailing somewhere else. I am a flatlander and do not want to anger the gods of elevation. Being a flatlander, I am also facinated by mountains, snow, and all of the off road trails in your state. I am a flyfisherman and would be interested in that aspect as well.

Re: Colorado Bound

have fun ! I did at the summit. try yankee boy gov basin and then imogene. all could possible be done in a day but then not much time to look around and see what it there .
the alpine loop is also a good one day trip .
all in the stock FJ range it up to you to find the trails that meet the limits of your driving abilities

Re: Colorado Bound

OK Katfish, how much is it going to cost me to get the secret camping spot out of you? I saw a picture somewhere of the Amplitheater campground and one of our members had a Tentrax Trailer Tent, but I can't find it now. Anyway, it looks like a great campground and I will be headed there. Thanks for the encouragement. I can't wait.

Shred, I'll be in the area the 16th thru the 21st, I too should be staying in Amphitheater CG, unless time/weather won't allow, then it's a Hotel. Let me know what dates and then we could team up for some trail time. I have a Blk Dmnd with the OME lift, raock rails and skids, but I'm still running stock rubber so I'm limiting the degree of trails I take also. Tim

Beware the weather. Some trails may close by the third week of September. I'm heading up in a couple of days for what may be the last time this year.

Re: Colorado Bound

You can run pretty much everything in the Ouray area stock. Imogene is great along with Black Bear. Have fun!

Re: Colorado Bound

It looks like I will be arriving in the Frontrange area about the 15th. I will spend a couple of days in the Denver to Salida area and then head for Ouray.
