Sedona in the Winter

Just a brief question regarding the quality and off-roading options in the Sedona area in November/December/January:

Any feedback on where to go, where not to go, things to see etc. for a 3-4 Day trip I'm planning on making. I don't plan to rough it. Perhaps do the hotel thing at night and the trails during the day.

Good idea or bad idea?

I expect some feedback from the Arizona Desert Rat Clan...

Re: Sedona in the Winter

I have not done any offroading in that area so won't be able to share any info. However, I grew up in Tucson and have visited Sedona many times (including a stay over christmas holiday) and Nov/Dec/Jan are good months to visit. Quite a few B & B to choose from besides the hotels. For activities, there is hiking, sighseeing tours, art galleries (Tlaquepaque), golf, hot air balloon rides. Lots of good restaurants too. The Enchantment Resort is worth visiting and have lunch just to take in the views. Oh, just remember that you're also a member of adventure4x4.net and the guy to contact over there is Dakartj; he lives in Sedona and knows the trails very well.

Re: Sedona in the Winter

Yeah we are working on SedonaFest for Dec 7,8,9 with camping at Chavez Crossing Campground which is right in Sedona for folks wanting hotels also.
I have been laying low on telling folks till after BorregoFest so we can learn some lessons and keep the focus on 1 event at a time.

There are great trail out of Sedona that are from 1 hr to all day, you can do a morning trail like Broken Arrow, then have lunch in town, then hit Soldiers Pass or Oak Creek Homestead in the afternoon. On the next day if you want a longer run that will take you to Jerome or Prescot then hit Smiley Rock.

Check out trails.com for info on all these and more... and keep us posted on your plans so we can make sure we are free to run with ya.

SedonaFest will be very cool I hope, runs, give-a-ways, roundtable disscussions and more....
