The intent for this thread is to air my feelings and I can in turn accept criticism.
When the thought of getting together with other FJ Owners came to mind, I decided to try a get-together, which was the Pavilions car show back in March of this year. I have always believed that if we had a diverse group of people in our non group, we would welcome whoever wanted to join.
The issue I see is when our threads are read by people who don’t know us, they may not want to join the group. I am all for free speech and expression: however, the constant talk of getting drunk, beer, foul language and inappropriate topics excludes certain people that do not party as hard as it appears that we do. If there were an occasional reference to having a few beers after the run, that is ok. From the outside looking in it seems that all we do is party. We cannot even stay on topic enough to get runs going. I am confused every time I try to find out what’s going on with the people I know, let alone someone we invite to join our runs and the forum. I love to clown around and enjoy witty posts, but it seems we just type a few letters or none at all just to get post count. Our message always remains blurred. There is a thread we can post to that is considered off topic. I know some threads tend to stray, but really, can we have a more organized side to show prospective AZFJ’s we can put events and trail runs together without loosing the whole topic after the 200th one line post??
WE are a diverse group. We all have our own lifestyles and beliefs. The example we set as a whole is how one person may judge each of us and decide based on their belief and values that this would not be a worthwhile group for them or their family.
First impressions count. We want to continue bringing diversity to our group and the impression we exude is not one that will welcome the majority.
This thread would not even be started if I didn’t believe is the AZFJ group

I'm on a ranting thing tonight....So I mine as well chime in here!!
OK were a crazy, cool ,crazy ,diverse ,crazy ,human leg crazy non group group, with non member members! If you dont agree with this your crazy!!
What Im trying to say is were all different and some people like to go nutz and have a blast, I gotta say my crazyness is because i want our own category. Crazy I know but you know what, people laugh, and in life if you dont laugh then whats the point! Im not going to appoligize because if someone was getting aggravated with me, they would call dragon on me and once that happend Id be pissed....
So be it, I love everyone and everything on this forum, and I hope no one takes this the wrong way, because if you do, your crazy and you dont know me!!
Off topic is an azfj thang and if they dont underdstand they arent crazy azfj non member members!!!!!!!
P.S. - I swear all my madness is NOT for post counts, I SWEAR on that! I could care less, that was my first year!! Now legos are another subject....totally KIDDING!
As a (somewhat) new AZ member of this forum, I would agree with you Don. I'm having a blast learning quietly about the FJ & mods, and hopefully will have one soon. However, I've not met any of you valley folks (yet), so a "real" first impression has not yet been made.

This is a thread I started months ago on this very issue...
To give folks an idea of where I am at when it comes to the current rage of running a thread way off topic regardless of who or what it is about...well I am spending most of my time on adventure4x4.net and expeditionportal.com.
Even though I have hours of free time at night at work that doesn't mean I want to waste my time. There will be 3-4 pages on a thread and it will be meaningless drivel....not worth even looking at.
I come here for FJC related info, trail runs and trip reports. If you search my post you won't find me wasting your time with stuff not worth looking at and I expect that folks will treat me the same.
The recent trend has gotten bad enough that even the folks driving it like Jessa, Pumba, Kat, Abophx, and others have posted things like "when are doing this?", "what is going on?"....and that just makes me laugh with pity.
Honestly if there isn't change soon I will simply stop coming by regularly, I will post stuff of value on the other forums where I won't have to wade through crap. I might lurk here looking for runs or stuff like that but folks won't see much from me since it won't be worth the hassle.
The only alt as I see it would be if I ask the moderators to delete off topic post to any thread I started...of course that wouldn't help the typing diarherria on things like the "mod partry" and "bbq thread" both of which have run forever with little value.
So that is where I am at, I like all of you I have met and I still want to go on runs with all of you, however it isn't worth my time to waste wading through all the junk looking for info of value.

Oh and I hope I am not sorry about mentioning those other sites since if all of you join there and fill it up with junk I will have hurt those good folks....

I love you guys....and I hope we can tone it down....but we still need it to be fun for our crazy crazy members out there some where...
there is nothing fun about wading through a few pages of 1 line drivel in order to find any info on the topic of the thread.
How many times should someone have to read a comment like "ok when are we meeting", "what is the plan", "anyone know what is going on" these are all quotes from thread that have gone way off topic or just been filled with gibberish.
I like all of you in person, I like running the trails with all of you, otherwise I would have been gone along time ago. However I don't like to play a text version of paddy-cake. I am here to:
Learn about the FJC
See cool mods by others (including that amazing bumper of Pumbas)
Post up my mods for others to see
Look for runs/events
Post up runs/events
And it should be noted that I can do all of that on other sites without all the text based babble. I keep coming back only because I am sure this is a place for new FJC owners (like I was) and I want them to know they have good folks in AZ to run with. Honestly though I gotta say if I logged on here today for the first time there is no way I would run with folks that have mindless evergrowing but going nowhere thread like we currently have.
I would think "these folks can't plan a mod party, keep on focus or be other than childish for 3 post in a row....what would they be like on the trail?" Tread lightly...not mentioned, Knowledgable trail leaders....not seeing much that I would follow.
Just my thoughts and since I know the above impression isn't what most of you are like then I figure you would want to change the message you folks are sending.
Oh and Jessa I think I mentioned you, Pumba and others because the last 48 hrs have been heavy with banter from ya'll.
