Re: AZFJ new improved mod party

is the party going on the whole day, I may stop by and say hello. I've got a crap ton of things to do today though. The new job has me working an insane amount of hours and traveling far more than I thought I would be. Don't have any spare time to do anything anymore, not even check the forums.

If I don't make it, hello to everyone and happy modding, and hopefully I'll see you out on the trail sooner than later...if I ever get a chance to go out.

Where is everyone?????
I was driving in circles around your shop for 90 minutes before I found it. Sorry I got there late.

Thanks for setting this up and letting us use your shop. It was nice to meet many others from the AZFJ (non-club) Club. A lot of cools mods were installed today.

Dave

Re: AZFJ new improved mod party

I am beat. My brother in-law came into town so I jumped in the shower, headed to the Danny's Carwash and went out the rest of the day. I just came back and am ready to crash.

It was great meeting all the Fj people that I met before. I can't believe that installing all my skids took the same amount of time to install 3dtonka and Katfish's 3" lift. BTW it Looks awesome.

Homedad, thanks a lot of reminding me about the MOD party, helping me install the All Pro Skids and letting us use your place.Your just a cool dude.

RockFJ, thanks for spending most of your time helping me install the bud builts and Rock rails. If you plan on sending the plastic piece to get painted silver then let me know. I would like to get mine done as well after backing into a tree.

DiamondDave, A BIG THANK YOU for going out and getting the needed Rock Rail bolts and installing the 12VOLT in the rear. The fact that you had all the parts and extra 12volt socket was awesome. I didn't expect it. I can't say enough. BTW, Your rig looked awesome.

Mike, nice to meet you and your son. He really liked moding and helped out with the Budbuilts. Careful or he is going to get addicted to the moding bug at such a young age.

Mike,John & Donovan , It was nice meeting you.

Katfish- NO PICS of my BELLY!

----- I hate when tools go missing so I checked my tool box when I got back. I don't have JP's 13mm socket. I did find a 13mm Craftsman wrench that is not mine. So check your tools and let me know so I can give it back.--------

Cheers and now it is time to plan a SCUBA or CB mount party where we can still have time to BBQ.

Cool Re: AZFJ new improved mod party

Homedad: Thank you again! The mod party was a great success and everyone had a great time. I really enjoyed talking with everyone.

Everyone: It was comforting to learn that my addiction (sickness as my wafe calls it) is not unique. There is a full blown support group out there.

Speedy: You are very welcome and I was happy to help.

I wish I could claim that I came up with that little trick but the forum tipped me off on the constant power supply for the sub wiring harness regardless of if you have the sub option. Made the job much easier popping out a single panel and running 12" of wiring rather than all the way from the fuse box up front.

For anyone wanting to add a constant power 12v power to back, this is a 10 minute job tops. Extremely easy mod.

With regard to a SCUBA or CB party - count me in. I need to complete my CB install and have ordered the parts from Toyota for the SCUBA mod. It looked like at least 4 people needed to complete the SCUBA mod.

Re: AZFJ new improved mod party

I'm sorry I missed this!

I'm quite certain you all had more fun than I did...

Nevertheless, I did get back in the afternoon with enough time to make a big dent on cleaning in my garage. I'm still at it today, and by the end of the day I plan to be up and running on my own auto project, the FJ40 crawler.

I came across some stuff that is up for grabs if anyone has an interest.

I've got all the parts for a Revtek lift kit except for extended brake lines which I would recommend installing at the same time.

The spacers are already installed in my old stock coil-overs - this is a simple changeout. The lifted coil-overs go in, replacing the existing no-lift ones, and a spacer shim goes on top.

In the back, the stock springs get spaced away from the frame with a heavy delrin cone.

The only tools other than wrenches needed to perform this change are spring clamps (you can borrow mine or get cheapies - this isn't a super scary spring compression job like some), a good jack and a couple of jack stands (mine are holding my project axles right now, so you'll probably want to find some others). I recommend a hydraulic FLOOR jack rather than the Hi-Lift for this job because it's nice to be able to lift from under the frame. I've got a decent jack, if you want to borrow it for a short time.

Revtek makes a decent product in terms of an entry level lift kit. I ran one on my Tacoma for years and wheeled HARD. The only reason that I replaced this was because I wanted to play with adjustable springs and shocks. Otherwise it would have been fine, even when I went to 35" tires because the real work to get those fitted involves abusing the wheel wells.

The mileage on this kit is very very low. It was on the FJC when I bought it, and I replaced it almost immediately.
