It's always easier when someone else picks the date and I just have to show up. I'm adding it to my calendar now, and I guess we should all work out the details.
It would also be a good time to coordinate any sort of Utah FJ-Train to Ouray. Maybe we could do some sort of Communications thing. Maybe invite some CB radio dudes to come and sell us their wares. Then we can all act like truckers all the way to CO.
"Breaker breaker 1-1-9 this is kit kat anybody out there for a chit chat, come on back?"
No, but seriously I need a CB and I have no clue where to put my dollars, also the whole issue of getting it tuned and what not, it would be great if an expert could lend us their knowledge.
Maybe if we had enough interest we could get a group rate on the bandi mount, and some firesticks (are those good? I don't know.)
Who in the SLC deals in said CB radios and would be good enough/willing to show up? If anyone knows a place already, post up.
Maybe I'm the only one without a radio.
So Sunday, July 6th. (might be hard to get any commercial support in UT on a Sunday) We could all do a pot luck thing and throw 1leglance right into the UT Culture. I can bring a mean multi-layered bean dip and some delicious corn chips to munch.
another thought on the CB radio thing (provided anyone else is interested) Maybe we could make our purchases prior to the date and use our new friends and do some installs and tuning (can one of us get whatever it is CB guys use to tune their radios).
Once I get my FJ I am in with whatever everybody wants to do. I am in Orem. I am free a lot of the summer because I teach. I just have random meetings and classes interspersed all through the summer months.
to tune the antenna you just need a SWR meter which is $20 something from any cb shop...www.walcottcb.com has tons of great deals and parts Combination PRO510XL CB Radio & K30 Antenna W. Plug
this is a super package that works for folks who don't want a perm mount.
I would be fine with something in a park or trailhead that would allow lots of folks to park & hangout. The goal is media attention and public awareness so a huge group of rigs should do that
I will post a new thread on my SLC night as soon as I have the route & dates nailed down for sure.
Sorry for the thread hi-jack

I'm interested too! This is gonna be a very busy year for me but I would love to get involved too. I know of a million interesting places to go out in the West Desert, many would make great great trips involving ghost towns, mine ruins, indian sites, ect.
I'm way interested! Between family and job, I usually end up being too busy to do all of the things I want to do. I'm in for whatever I can help with though.
Just a little news. Purchased the UtahCruisers.Com domain today and some hosted web-space to keep it. Now I just have to whip up a temporary site for us up there. We should have enough bandwidth for pics, articles and down/uploading. Love to see if we can't get together on our Utah Cruisers plate or sticker that we've discussed and finalize something. We had been talking about a get together this weekend or next for fun. Doesn't even have to be a grand adventure, coffee/hot chocolate would be OK. I think it would be fun to talk about our little gang and where we want to take it. Folks naturally gravitate to different specialties in life and perhaps some of us will be able to offer what others can't etc.
Anyhow, let's decide on a meet-up before I go off and start a thread announcing when
Moabrat you rock. I like your ideas. Thanks for all of your hard work. I look forward to seeing what we can do.
