Smile Tire and Wheel Packages....Phoenix

I now have a new tire and wheel vendor for the long haul..
I went to Discount Tire at 15th Ave and Bell in Phoenix.
I dealt with the Manager Ben Hobson, he's a Toyota dude, he gave me a great deal with Certificates (warranty), I have a set of wheel spacers that are (1 1/2"), he had the guys put them on with the new wheels and tires and take them off for me so we could look at clearances, they really spent some time with me and made me feel welcome. (I guess I need that attention or something because it makes me feel all fuzzy inside)
I got a set of (5) 16x8 wheels and 285 75 16 Terra Grapplers, beautiful.....
Although the spacers looked beochin with my stock wheels and tires, they give clearance issues at full turn at the back side of the front tire wells with the larger tires... Oh well, guess I'll just have to sell them.
Anyway, I had a great experience and thought I'd pass on the Who, What and Where of it, as I know other Phoenicians are looking to do something..
He told me to let him know that you are on the FJ Forum and that I sent you and he'll give the hook-up.....

Let's see some pics Attilla. I also got my wheels and tires at Discount in Peoria. Very happy with the job they did.

Yeah, post some pictures Attilla. So are you selling the factory wheels too? I bet the new tires/wheels look good.

You're holding out on us. I've seen the lift, but not the new tires and wheels. I guess I'll just have to wait.

I, too, have had great experiences with Discount Tire. Tires mounted, unmounted, changed wheels, checked for rubbing, the whole enchilada. Never a complaint from the salesman or the techs. I guess repeat business is important to this company. I wish that were true of more places.

Attilla,
I was hoping the rumor about the 285/70 17 Nittos was true because I really like the look of those tires. Unfortunatey I've already committed to keeping the stock rims for now. Guess I'll have to look at the Toyo ATs. Thanks for the hook up and crushing my hopes and dreams. How about just posting a close up picture of the tires/rims? By the way, check the Ih8mud site about the 10th. Looks like some changes.

Re: Tire and Wheel Packages....Phoenix

Attilla,

DT should mount a 285/70/17 on 7.5" rims. A 285 on 7" rim they will not. My uncle runs the Discount Tire up at Anthem and I ran into the same problem with him on my F350. He explained it for the same reason you did; tire seperation. As for the FJ, no issues mounting my 285/70/17s and it's within BFG's allowed rim size.

If any of you want similar hook-ups, call Steve Driver at the Discount Tire Anthem store. Just mention the FJ forums and he'll take care of you.
