Re: Utah HD Polyethyline Skids get together

Sorry for taking so long to get back. We did the install today and MAN it was a lot more intense than I had thought. Measuring, cutting, bending, finding bolt holes, etc. It took us from 7:30am until 4:15pm to do just one. We will do a few things different on the next skid, but over all it's awesome. I will post some pics tomorrow and go over the install. Black is the way to go. We are looking at make a kit with all of the hardware + a cut and formed skid to sell for around $500 if anyone wants one. That is for the UHMW in black not the HD. The install should take 2-3 hours depending on how good you are at working on your rig. Thats with the skid already completely finished. Cut, bent and drilled. I can't wait to get it scratched up.

Re: Utah HD Polyethyline Skids get together

I sure could use one of these for this weekend at Moab if I'm able to swing it. All those scratch marks on the rocks for the trail pics didn't just magically appear there.

Sorry for not being on top of this guys. I have not forgotten about this, but I have been sicker than a dog this week. Maybe next weekend some of us can get together and try this out. Maybe Just4Fun can give us some pointers as well.

Re: Utah HD Polyethyline Skids get together

I'm stoked on this idea. I saw a exploratory thread about these a few months back and it seemed that everyone harshed the idea of HDPE skids. I like everything about it. I'm looking into building a plastic bender, basically a heat strip that you can lay sheets of plastic on to bend on straight lines. I think it will cost me about $60.00. I have a huge piece of cardboard sitting in my garage, and will pick up some jack stands at Lowe's tomorrow. I get intimidated building my own stuff, but I'm freakin' poor right now, so it forces me to improvise. I'd love to hear some pointers/pitfalls. Detailed pics too.

Re: Utah HD Polyethyline Skids get together

Sorry guys. Here are some pics from Moab. We are going to finish the front skid this week. Hope to have them fininshed and ready for sale within a couple of weeks. They are off my FJ right now but I hope to have them back on this week. We could do a lunch next week or something if you all want to get together and see them.

AND BY THE WAY GO JAZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just 4 Fun,

That sounds good, I'd be interested in potentially purchasing one.

Re: Utah HD Polyethyline Skids get together

You'll have to come check them out next week. We need to build a couple of brackets for the front skid, and then we are done. It will be a front and rear skid combo, with all the hardware to install. Hope to have pics by next week.
