The three F wekkend. as proposed by COchef

So after talking about the Pit roasted Lamb and/or Hog, I have decided that I want to try and make this a reality.
So I am thinking of trying to get a group together for a week end of the three F's (noooo...not those)
Food, Friends, and Four wheelin.
I think that at least a two day outing would be needed, and atleast 10 participants. The more is always the merrier. My thoughts are 3 days two nights....

Day one
meet, ride, set camp, light smoker, drink, smoke chicken, dig pit, start fire, eat, drink, place meat in pit, drink, sleep.

Day Two
Eat, add vegetables to pit, ride, eat, drink, sleep.
Day three
eat, break camp ride, wash rigs, tell everyone who didnt go how great the three F's were and what a great time we had.
I think that food for this entire event could be had for under 400 dollars. if we get 10 people, thats 40 dollars for 3 days worth of food. Im no math wiz, but I think thats not too bad.
Now as we get more people involved the amount of food goes up, total costs go up but cost per person goes down. So as I said earlier I think this would be great for numerous folks.
Now I have the clark grisswold disease, where as I build things up in my head. But this has all the makings of being a great time. So what I will need is
1. people to want to do this,
2. help from those of you who know the trails/areas to help locate the perfect place to hold this event.

I am thinking that a weekend late august/ early september would be great.

Works for me!

As for where... The hardest part is digging the pit in our wonderful Colorado moraine, but I can get Brandon (march2304) to bring his shovel and we'll be golden

Off the top of my head I would look at the following areas:

Central Rockies around Aspen
Central Valley around Buena Vista
Western Slope around Ouray

All of those would have enough trails for three days and lots of variety for varying skill levels and several of us are familiar with the area(s)

Or check this out and see if something fits:

Events Calendar 2008 - TTORA Forum

This would also be a great opportunity to make a dry run for WFTW.

I don't have anything on my calendar(s) for those dates, so I'd snag them before they get filled with something else.

Might want to check with folks with kids, I know some schools are starting earlier these days.
