Wow, do they sell other colors out there?
So, it's interesting that the trail team says hey, just show up. Yet, the people organizing the event seem to get pissy (steve is not on the trail team correct?) that people did. Any advice for those that want to meet the trail team in the future??
Hey Miss FJ,
Of all the rides that were there, by far the blues were the largest number. I think between the two trails there were around 20 FJs. But there was only one Black Diamond (mine) and only one Black Cherry. I think were only two Sun Fusions. Then about a 3 or 4 to 1 ration of Voodoo to Titanium.
You want pictures of Voodoo Blues, I got'em. I was sandwiched in between Blues on most of the trail run.

YES!
Talk to the organizing group. Make sure that whoever will be in charge that day knows that you will be there and what your experience level is. Steve was overwhelmed and it showed. I don't know that he was "the guy" that organized this run but he became the fall guy when the cards were on the table.
The problem with this run was that whomever the actual "organizer" was did not apparently explain to the "trail leader" that he was going to have a ZOO on his hands with a whole bunch of new wheelers. It caused problems and Steve really had no idea how to fix it. Unfortunatley he let it get out of control and he made an ass out of himself over it. When I look back I still had fun and can't wait to get back out on the trail with some of the folks I met on Saturday.

I thought the run was lots of fun. The people on the "less crazy" run were great. The stuff the trail team handed out made all the pin striping worth it...lol My flat tire before even getting to the trail was also lots of fun. I hope we all get to hang out again soon. Did I mention that I got to use my rear wiper...pretty cool
I'm starting to wonder about these Toyota Alloy rims. Seem pretty flimsy to me. The trail really gouged them up but I guess I was really lucky that I had not blown out a tire there or doing 75mph on the way home. Arrived home and discovered that a brush root had wedged part of itself behind the rim and under the tire bead. Had to have the tire taken off the rim to remove the wood. The alloy edge where it went in is well beaten up.
Hey Blue,
I agree the alloy seems to have a soft finish. Many scratches on the right side rims on my rig. In looking at the rim with the tire off though, it seems they have a very significant bead ridge inside that will help keep the tire seated. I plan on keeping them for that reason, scratches or not. As for tire failures, I don't believe many on our trail aired down. I'd venture to say that everyone with a flat didn't air down. That would have allow more flex and not force objects (rocks, sticks, spines) into the tires. Bend but don't break theory. Secondly, the stock tires are P rated (passenger) tires. LT rated tires perform much better, have more plies and are much less susceptible to puncture. That's why Attilla, CDriver, myself and others have made tire changes. Extra trail insurance. I'd highly recommend you consider the same if you are going to continue to spend time on the trail. My $0.02.

Good points, yes the P tires go pop easily! The stock Toyota rims are forged, good strong rims, something to think about when replacing them, most aftermarket rims are much weaker cast, forged or billet rims are $$$. The surface on them is paint and responds to buff and wax just as well as the rest of the paint. Larger, wider tires help protect the rims.
